Internal Links not showing in EZ pages TOC

Hi all,

I have been beating my head against the wall a bit with EZ pages and I was hoping someone could shine some light on something I might be doing wrong.

I have taken the approach of integrating my "More Information" sidebox into EZ pages so that I can customize it and add some other links. Everything is great, except that those chapters that use some of the predefined pages from the original information sidebox are not showing up in the TOC for the EZ pages after adding them as internal links.

For example, I have an main chapter page called ordering and shipping in EZ pages that is enabled in the sidebox and footer. I have created 4 pages within that chapter that are set to show up in the TOC. However, when I go to that page:

http://sacredsuds.com/store/index.php?main_page=page&id=4&chapter=30

I only see the pages that have had content added via the EZ pages html content area (namely, "how to order" and "returns"). I do NOT see the pages that have been created with internal links. There should also be links for "Shipping Information" and "Privacy".

I have scoured the forum for all the usual fixes, but they don't seem to be my problem.

I have ensured that:

  1. There is nothing entered in the HTML content area or the external links box.
  2. The pages are disabled in the header, footer, and sidebox, but they ARE enabled in the TOC and they DO have a non-zero sort order (30, and 50), respectively.
  3. I am using relative urls in the following format:
    index.php?main_page=shippinginfo
    index.php?main_page=privacy
  4. The settings are identical for the pages that are showing up.

The above was just an example, but I should say that none of my internal links are showing up and all of my other pages are. So it seems to be something with the internal links tool not working for me. Any ideas? The best I've found is this thread that sounded identical but received no replies :(

I tried contacting the individual to see if it was solved but no luck there either.

Any ideas would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Thanks,

Brian

Re: Internal Links not showing in EZ pages TOC

Every EZ-pages component (link or page) must have a SORT ORDER.

Have you given SORT ORDERS to all components?

Yes, they all are enabled (green) and have sort orders greater than zero for the TOC.

The sort orders for the other settings (sidebox and footer) are zero, but they are also disabled (red), so I assume that is not the problem. They have the exact same things turned on or filled out that my other pages have that are showing up. The only difference is if the content is defined through the editor or as an internal link.

They will show up in the footer or sidebox if I enable them, but even then they will still not show up in (or even display) a TOC -- even if they are moved into a chapter that has a functioning TOC.

I have worked around it by just rearranging the way I use the pages or coding a TOC directly into the define pages section for the pages that won't show one, but that really isn't the best long-term solution for managing links and what not. Currently, it's not a big deal, as these aren't pages I anticipate having to change very often, but it would be nice to do them in the more elegant way.

So now, mostly I'm just curious if it was something I was doing wrong or if this is the way Zen Cart is supposed to behave? Can other people get internal links in EZ pages to be functional components of the TOC system?

Have you looked at the EZPages settings under:

ADMIN>>>CONFIGURATION>>>EZPages Settings

?

Re: Internal Links not showing in EZ pages TOC

Sorry -- In the spirit of following the forum guidelines...

If it will help anyone diagnose, I'm running:

*v 1.38a that was installed automatically by my host, Siteground
*Apache 1.3.37 server running PHP 5.2.5, MySQL 5.0.45
*addons include ez pages in sitemap, slimbox, site map for google.... I think that's all.

Brian...

This could be a classic "Blank Page" issue, and I think that one of your code files may be corrupted.

There are lots of posts about encountering Blank Pages and what to do about it - including running a debugging script.

Check your server error logs as well for possible parsing errors.

Thanks, Schoolboy. Yes, I've been there --

The header is turned off, footer and sidebox are turned on.
Separators are set, but shouldn't affect anything anyway;
Prev/next is turned off;
TOC for Chapter status is turned on;
The 4 "disable such and such" options are all blank.

I don't think any of these settings should cause problems? (and can't see how they would affect internal links only), but if you have any other thoughts, I'm all ears.

I also found the addon by Ajeh adding the TOC as a sidebox. I will try to install that later and maybe that will work.

Re: Internal Links not showing in EZ pages TOC

What happens if you switch templates... like go to Classic Green for a while?

Re: Internal Links not showing in EZ pages TOC

Switching the template has no effect -- they are still not included. Same for installing the TOC sidebox (although, great addon, thanks Ajeh!)

Ugh -- that sounds fun to deal with. But thanks very much for giving something to go on. I have been at a loss as to how to troubleshoot any further. I'll do some searching for Blank Pages and let you know. Not sure about finding parsing errors, but I guess there's no time like the present to learn....

TShooters:

See post #14 here:

http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=84740

Wow -- I can't believe how many different times I have tried to search this forum with different keywords. . . My fault -- I just didn't scan that thread closely enough as I assumed it only related to the sidebox!

Anyway, thanks Tshooter! Glad to know it's not a corruption problem in my files. I guess the answer is to just turn off the "standard" pages and use EZ pages to do all my links. There doesn't seem to be any harm in that except for a few redundant files sitting on my server/database.

And thanks also to Schoolboy for the help!

By the way, is there a way to mark threads as resolved on these forums to help future readers? I didn't see the option in the interface or in the FAQs. Unless maybe it's the "Have a Drink?"
