Free shipping by Category

I want to know if the following is possible.

I have 4 categories of items. Group A,B,C & D. The customer is able to purchase any of items in each category. However, I want the shipping to be calculated diffrently for each category. Each category has a flat rate shipping of $40. If they buy over $270 in a single category, they get free shipping for that category.

I know it sounds strange but each category comes from a different warehouse.

The "Quantity Discount" Mod looks very close to what I want to do, but instead of the discount, I want to give free shipping.

Please help.

What If I buy 3 products...

• One from category A
• One from category B
• One from category C ?

How is shipping calculated then?

And what if I buy:

• $40 from category A
• $340 from category C
• $8 from category D ?

A=$40
B=Free shipping
C=$40

Total Freight = $80

I know it's a strage situation, but our customers understand this. The products are specialty medical supplies and our customers are will to pay for the freight from each shipping location.

The only module I know of that can do this quickly and easily for you is a commercially available shipping module from Conor Kerr (ceon).
