Is a 'univeral' discount code possible

Hi all!

I have the following problem. Our business is taking part in a loyalty program in conjunction with the local newspaper. All readers have been issued with a card. Each card has an individual number. Obviously I do not know every number. Within the program we are giving a 10% discount.

I need something like a 'dummy' discount code, like ************ that I give in the coupon manager which accepts all 10 digit numbers and gives a 10% discount code on them. Is this possible? (or do you have another idea?)

Registration does not require approval in the shop, as this would stop a lot of people from making spur of the moment purchases (so I could not give the registree a permanent 10% discount).

You could do this by writing a ton of code, or you could just tell people the coupon for the loyalty program is "SAVETEN", and create this coupon in the admin panel. I would recommend the latter, unless of course you're made of money in which case you should contact me immediately to discuss the former. :)

Problem is, I don't have any contact whatsoever with the new customer until I get his order, so the order has already been processed (with no discount).
So there is no DN . solution. Rats. May have to do a kind of pre-registration for the readers. Like a 'contact me before you place your order for your unique discount code'.
Still thinking on this one.

Are you doing flyers with unique codes on each flyer or a printed ad in the paper with 1 10 digit code in the ad in all papers??
