PLZ HELP. My Quantity text box is not working...

OOPS, sorry I posted this same message twice by accident. I don't know how to delete this so, admin please delete if possible.

I can't figure out how to get the quantity box to work in zen cart.

I am using stock by attributes, and set up three different sizes small, medium, large as a drop down menu.

I also set up a text box where the customer can type in the quantity of the item they want to purchase as an attribute.

However, when I type in a number for example '2' and "add to cart'. It shows that there is only one item in the shopping cart.

I wanted to undo all of this so I deleted the quantity attribute as text box. Now I have no box to enter the quantity at all.

somebody please help me...

The text box attribute is not configured to perform arithmetic calculations.

While I do not use Stock By Attributes, I would imagine that to set up an attribute that requires a quantity (and subsequent price increase) you should look at a drop-down, and apply a price variable to each value.

I would imaging that this would render appropriately in the Stock By Attributes set-up.

If that is possible though,, I can't figure out how to 'apply a price variable to each value" as you say.

Does anybody else that has used stock by attribute been faced with this problem and know how to work around it?
I can't be a uncommon problem since I can imagine a lot of online stores selling products that have attributes such as size (small, medium, large) or color and the option to manipulate the quantity as a customer desires.
