Uh oh... Please Help Fix Mistake...

Let me start by saying that I did not make this mistake but I did say I would see if I could find a way to help fix it...

Today, a friend of mine meant to send 800 people a 2 dollar gift certificate to the store as a Christmas gift. Due to a typo, she actually sent a 200 dollar gift certificate to 800 people...

Is there any way to fix this?

As soon as she realized this mistake, she put the store down for maintenance but the emails had already been sent and the code(s) have already been generated...

I've been trying to think of something that could be done, but I'm hoping someone here will have a better idea than what I'm coming up with, which is not a lot...

TIA!!

Huggles!!

Re: Uh oh... Please Help Fix Mistake...

first delete all of those gift certificates from the database, then send an OOPS! I screwed up email to everyone with new gift certificate codes and it might be better to set up and use coupons (with "coupons have no cash value" disclaimer). I would also put something up on the site somewhere explaining the clerical error.

Re: Uh oh... Please Help Fix Mistake...

Very unfortunate when these situations happen but for now, someone should IMMEDIATELY send out follow up eMails stating the previous one was erroneous and is invalid.

As to what the backlash from this will be is anybody's guess but the Store Owner should be prepared for it.

Re: Uh oh... Please Help Fix Mistake...

Oops Emails were sent, and then the store was put into down for maintenance so that it could get fixed before people had a chance to claim them all... And, I am sure another oops email will be sent with a correct code once we have this squared away!!

SO, I guess my next question is How do I delete those GCs from the database?? :D

Thanks so much for the help!! :D

Re: Uh oh... Please Help Fix Mistake...

By deleting them from with the Admin section you will also delete them from the database.

Re: Uh oh... Please Help Fix Mistake...

You can not delete gift certificates from the admin, you must delete them in the database.

That's what I thought... I just don't know which table in the database is storing the gift certificate codes... :D

TIA again!!

Re: Uh oh... Please Help Fix Mistake...

Never looked for any Delete button as I presumed since the GV are a Product they can be deleted like any other Product.

If that is not the case then my apologies for any confusion.

If they "must" be manually deleted from the database then one only needs to query for something specific to the GV to determine the Table and then delete. But again, I presume...
