Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

HELP!!!HELP!!!

I am sure it is the correct complete path as

define ('DIR_WS_PHPBB', '/home1/xxxxxx/public_html/forums/');

but the link in sideboxes is
http://www.xxxxxx.comforums/index.php

why missing a "/" between com and forums???
Thanks for your help!!!

Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

Check your configure.php file. Make sure you have all of the slashes in there correctly.
check line #51

define('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home/xxxxx/public_html/cart/');

Make sure that final slash is there. You already said the forum link has it, so....

EDIT -
note, the /cart/ folder is where my cart is, yours may be dfferent or it may just be at /public_html/.

Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

Hi Ripper,

You are very nice! Thanks!
I do everything you told me...but it doesn't work!

define ('DIR_FS_CATALOG', '/home1/xxxxxx/public_html/');
define ('DIR_WS_PHPBB', '/home1/xxxxxx/public_html/forums/');

The above path are correct, zen-cart regonised my phpbb but the link in main page just missing a slash...
Should I modify information.php in includes/modules/sideboxes/?
Thanks a lot!!! X'Mas!!!

Best wishes,
GnotgonK

Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

That's weird.
I'd make the link a static link, for now until a solution can be worked out.
Comment out all of the PHPBB lines in cart/includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE/sideboxes/information.php (should be lines 28-32) and add this under them

 $information[] = '<a href="path_to_forum/index.php">Forum</a>';

Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

Sorry, I should give you the exact line of code. Change "path_to_forum" to "../forums"
Like this:

$information[] = '<a href="../forums/index.php">Forum</a>';

Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

Hi Ripper,

It works!!! ::tup Thank you very much!!!
By the way, I want this too:

**That is so much easier than the 3rd party download in my case. The cart is going to be the home page for the entire site, so I don't have to worry about linking back through the forum to a specific folder or any of the other concerns. It works perfectly just as it is, with the one target change.
Thanks again. **
and any chance combine the login table too? Login once, cart and forum.
Thanks.

Best wishes,
GnotgonK

Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

Not yet. The cart uses the e-mail address as the username, PHPBB has an actual "username". I'm sure there's a way to make it work, but I haven't had the time to figure it out yet.

Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

I can't make mine work...

never prompts for a forum name...

I used the path in DIR_FS_CATALOG, and also the path that works with OTHER php software (bbclone)

The line reads as:

 define('DIR_WS_PHPBB', '/home/kaleco/public_html/phpbb2/');

Where, /home/kaleco/public_html/phpbb2/ is the path for my PHPBB.

Make sure you login to your admin panel, go to Configuration, then My Store and make sure near the bottom it says:

Enable phpBB linkage? TRUE

Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

if your phpBB tables are in a separate database from your zen cart tables, it's very possible that it won't be able to log in and grab the information ... especially if you're using a version of Zen Cart prior to v1.2.6

Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

I'm having trouble finding what version of zencart I have. I used Fantastico to install Zen and PhpBB2.

Though at the top it says "Your version of Zen Cart™ appears to be current"

I thought I read earlier that it was a bad idea to have them in the same database, in case of a 'bad query?'

Im not sure the database structure right now, I cant get into my cpanel from this location.

Re: Configuring Zen To Work With Phpbb

Hello. I have read this entire post, followed all of the instructions and still can not get the link to my forum to show in the infomation box & there is no forum nickname box on the sign up page. I have ran the sniffer and this is what it says,

dir=home/jefferyk/public_html/forum/
link_enabled_admin_status=true
FAILURE: phpBB NOT activated

Can someone please tell me why this is happening?

Thank you,
Kit ::frust
