PayPal IPN--got payment but no Order detail

Hi,

Sometimes, we got payment from Paypal but there is no order# created on zen-cart side. We are running 1.3.6.

Are the order detail records created in database? is it possible to check them in order table?

Go to the admin and your paypal module and edit > enable logging at the bottom >

Do some test purchases with a PP account and it must not be the one associated with the shop and check the log for where the process is breaking down

Thank you. I'll turn it on. Can I leave it on? Is there performance punishment? The rate for lost orders is about 1/1000 so I don't think I can test it.

Leaving it on is not a usual condition as the log will get large

I got 2 errors on 1/5/09. Same error message.

Mon Jan 2009 23:49 -- IPN FATAL ERROR::Could not establish fsockopen. Host Details = www.paypal.com:80

#2: Mon Jan 2009 23:15 -- IPN NOTICE::Got past language loads

I had a same problem.
I lost two orders in 2 last weeks, before was working fine(no order lost).
recently, 10 paypal orders, lost 1.
I received the paypal payment, but no order in the zen-cart.
Customer check out and pay via paypal, but the items still in their shopping cart, the system didn't create the order actually.

I check the ipncheck.php , the result is:
IPNCHECK.PHP - Version 1.0
IPN TESTING - POSTING to PayPal via: ssl://www.paypal.com:443
IPN TESTING - Confirmation/Validation response: RESPONSE RECEIVED - Communications OKAY
Script finished.

it happened randomly, it's hard to test it. :(

One of my clients reported the same problem today. I ran the ipncheck.php and it was fine..

What else can I check? Please help. Thank you.

Thanks for the link. I've checked and the CURL Proxy Status was already set to "false"

Also, I tried to look for the code you mentioned in this post:

but I couldn't find it!? Where else could it be? The client's Zen Cart is 1.3.7

If you're having PayPal problems and using old software but haven't installed the patch updates for it, then I'm not surprised.
You can patch your 1.3.7 site using the latest 1.3.7 paypal patch here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56216
Or better yet, upgrade to the newer version so you can benefit from the hundreds of other improvements and bugfixes.
