Selling Rolls of Varying Lengths

We sell a range of fabrics on our site and while most customers order specific lengths that are cut from the large rolls, we also sell those full rolls to our larger customers.

In the past, we've added these rolls as discrete products. These have identical descriptions and vary in length, weight and price. This has worked reasonably well but is quite cumbersome to maintain when new shipments arrive.

Ideally, we'd like to be able to set up one master listing for each of our products with the price per metre displayed and then use a drop down box or similar to allow our customers to select the specific rolls that they want to order. It would be great if at the same time, the inventory for those rolls could be decremented.

Thanks

Re: Selling Rolls of Varying Lengths

im not sure exactly what you mean , then again , im never sure of anything .

Have you looked into using zencart attribute ?

you can also install the following mode for your attribute to maintain attribute stock level ..

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=310

also if you have large number of attribute , use the following mode for easy attribute ( option value ) setting .

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=114

Re: Selling Rolls of Varying Lengths

Thanks for the links. The description of the first module seems to be exactly what I need. It will be my first foray into changing my Zen setup so I'll probably take it a bit slowly to make sure everything still works after the mods.
