How to test download and PayPal payment?

I've set up a downloadable product ("digital download"), set up both the PayPal payment module and my PayPal account (IPN - Website Payments Standard).

Now I would like to test it.

Is there a way to "buy" the product (follow through on the whole process) to see if it works without spending money at PayPal?

You'll only know whether it works properly by testing against PayPal's 'live' servers.

You just need to create a product priced at $0.01 and do a txn with PayPal with your customer-simulation account, then refund yourself with your store-merchant account.
