on another hosting....

Hello, I am trying to install and move all my store zen cart on another hosting (really a dedicated server linux) in way to pass from 1.3.7 to 1.3.8a

So I have installed new zen cart on new server and so now?
I have seen the guide I want to move My zen cart installation to another host or a different server but I have some questions:

  • I have installed also Jrox affiliate program, how can I move also this database?
  • I have the mod for example of SEO Url (so how can I do for not indexed pages on new server until it is published?
  • I have also other mods, when I transfer database and files all the mods will be transferred correctly?
  • how much time pass when old server gives to me auth code to transfer on new server, in way to don't loose a day for my site?
  • the last thing: before I have the system in non SSL mode, if I now would the SSL mode can I do in some way to do this?

I have a lot of fear for this operation.
:cry::cry::cry:

and includes/configure.php
and transfer database like guide, it doesn't appear zencart anymore.

Why??

Re: on another hosting....

Did you follow these two articles https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=98 and https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=108 to move your cart over to the new server?

Also here is another article for reference https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=100

If you are moving from a shared linux server to a dedicated linux server and the domain did not change you should have no issues with the transfer just simply upload the config files to their respective folders and that should be completed and then you can run your upgrade.

If you did not have SSL but you do have SSL now be sure these lines in the two configure files are activated.

define('ENABLE_SSL', 'true'); this line is located around the top under the domain lines of the configure.php files.

Should look something like this

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://localhost');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://localhost');
// Use secure webserver for checkout procedure?
define('ENABLE_SSL', 'false');

Re: on another hosting....

I have seen the first guide, I did until
Back up your site from the server as well as the copy on your computer.
Backup your database
Create a new directory and copy your site into it
Then create a new database and load your old database in it
Next, change the two configure.php files to utilize the new directory and database
This way ... when you attempt to upgrade you are "practicing" to see where the problems, if any will happen

but when I try to see index page I see blank page, maybe I wrong path of
configure.php and configure.php in includes/ and /admin/includes

so I have the new zen cart folder named
demodue
can you tell the correct path to modify in these files above?

The database is correct, I think it is only some path, but I don't undersand waht path...

Re: on another hosting....

It looks like all your problems are related to the configure.php files in admin/includes and includes/

Make sure both have ALL the paths entered correctly.

Re: on another hosting....

Giuly,

First of all never post this information in the sections of the configure files which you see below

define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', 'mys');
define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', 'blablabla');

Hopefully these are fake usernames and passwords if not I would have them changed immediately for your own security.

What is your websites address obviously mysite.it is a fake domain.

This would help us determine the issue and maybe see more then what you can post.

Re: on another hosting....

If you are referring to the images on the home page these images are hard coded to go to your main store. You will need to edit these links attached to the images under the admin

You can edit this file by going to admin --> tools --> Define Pages Editor --> then from the drop down menu choose define_main_page.php be sure to have permissions set on the ftp where you can edit this file.

Re: on another hosting....

I refer to images of the products, if you click on a product you are redirected to main site (not demodue)
I try to modify main page and go well.

I don't understand how to solve the fact that if you click on a product the system redirect on pages of true site (not demodue)
please

I have to change then the hosting, after solving this problem

Re: on another hosting....

now I think I've understand, it was the mod SEO url, when I set to false when I click on product it goes on right url with /demodue before.

Now another thing, if while I change server there are other orders, then how can I add also these orders on new site on new host?

Is it sufficient to do backup of customers table, or other tables to import in new host?

Thank you very much
bye

I am nearby the solution, a little bit I hope :blush:

Re: on another hosting....

Information for you and the lurkers.....

You did not mention in your original post that you had any mods loaded but that it was a NEW install. Not knowing that you had mods installed made it harder to diagnose your problem.

It's always best to state your type of server, PHP and MySQL versions, Zen Cart version, and ANY mods installed on the cart.

So many times we see the "I have the same problem" come up in a thread. Unless it's a carbon copy of the other cart, it's NOT the same.

It may be close IF it's a new install with no add-ons but, history has shown that each is different enough that we can't do anything but grope in the dark without the complete information.

Glad you got it going. Spent some great time in Porcia in the 70s. Loved Friuli and Pian Cavallo.
