Attribute prices are being added in per unit, can this be changed?

I'm in the midst of setting up a zencart for a client who sells cut-to-length cables with a variety of ends that can be crimped on the ends.

When you select the ends, the upcharge is added per unit of measure of cable as opposed to per order. For example, cable is available in 1' increments. If a user orders 11' and adds a connector on both ends of both ends and mutliplying it by the length of the cable. Basically, it is treating it as 11 of the item as opposed to one 11' length item.

Is there a way to work around this?

Can you write that description of what you are trying to do again in other terms where 1 and 11 are not used?

My client wants to be able to sell bulk cable by the foot and allow the user the option to have various connectors installed on both ends prior to shippiing.

I was trying to use the quantity field to allow the user to choose their cable length. For instance the product would be "cable - 1 foot lengths" and they could choose their length by using the quantity field. Then they would be able to select the connectors from the attributes field.

I've run into two problems.

THe first is that this method doesn't allow for a user to purchase multiple cables since the quantity field is used for length.

Secondly, when the final price is calculated the attributes are being added per unit specified in the quantity field. I would like them to be added per entire cable length.

How many connectors are there?

Are the connectors always the same on both ends or is that the part that is selectable with the attributes?
