Browse available product images on server??

Not sure if i've posted this in the right forum - so pardon me if i haven't.

I'm running a relatively fresh install of v1.3.8 and I'm inquiring about something that has had me wondering for a while: When one is creating or editing an existing product and has already ftp'd images to the server, is or should there be a way to select them from a list - similar to the "Browse-to" function for choosing local files?

In a search of the forum, I ran across this thread:

This seems to imply that one CAN, via a default zenCart install, browse the server's images directory.

However, I do not seem to have this functionality. After reading the above thread, I thought maybe i missed it initially before adding a handful of add-ons that i use.

I then pulled out my copy of "e-Start your Web Store with Zen-Cart" and reviewed the poducts Chapter (chapter 12, pg 166) which shows a screenshot of the admin product config page. It shows no "Browse to" button there either - so i'm guessing it's not that i'm just not seeing it on my install.

so far i've been ftp'ing in to locate the image file name i want and then typing it manuallly into the "Or, select an existing image from the server..." textbox. This works but is cumbersome.

So ......the question is - is there (or should there be) a means to view or select images available on the server from within the Admin product config page itself??? Have I missed something???

I don't know of a means in the product page to browse the server the way you can browse your computer to select an image file. The admin is scheduled for a complete overhaul in a future version (see the roadmap announcements); perhaps this should be put in the feature requests thread so it can be considered for that.
