Flat Rate / Over $250.00 FREE shipping exclude certain items

Hi Everyone,

I am new to Zen Cart. I have Flat Shipping rate setup for in-state for $25.00 and out of state shipment for $50.00. I have also setup if customer order is more than $250.00 they will get a FREE shipment. But I also have products that I need to exclude from FREE shipping. Since the product is a big item and the weight is very heavy and the price is higher than $250.00. How can I resolved this problem. Thanks!

I don't know of a way to exclude an item from Free Shipping that meets the price restriction. But you could just raise the price to cover the shipping as well and let the free shipping apply.

I don't know if that will work. It will make the price of the products that are in this category go up way too high for the customer to purchase. I rather have the exclusion (if possible) to these items.

You would have to do some customization to the Module ... Order Totals ... Shipping ot_shipping to identify these products and know to continue to charge a shipping rate even if the order exceeds your limits ...

Or, you can do all of the customizaiton in the Flat Rate flat shipping module to convert from the Flat Rate charges to Free Shipping unless those products are in the cart ...

You would have to test the cart to see if these products exist and if they do, either add a charge or block the Free Shipping from happening ...

Without sitting down and writing the code for you on this, it is a bit hard to put together all that is needed to accomplish this ... but it can be done ... :smile:
