How do I credit a customers account?

As you can read from my title, right now my main problem is learning how to credit customers accounts when I told them I would give them a 25% credit off their next purchase.
How do I do this?

Not to be short, but this is best answered by reading the tutorials or wiki on Gift Certificates/Coupons.

Zen Cart does not have "accounts" where a balance is kept, etc. Without doing custom coding, all transactions are paid-in-full at the time an order is placed. There are no partial payments.

If you're wanting to give one-time discounts, then create a coupon for it, and tell them the coupon code. It's up to them to redeem it.

Or, if you intend to give them a discount on ALL future orders, set up Group Discounts for them, and they'll see the discount at checkout EVERY time they place an order.

Unless I am not understanding your question.

Create a one time use coupon for 25% off, email the customers you promised a discount to with the discount code.

BTW, your site is nice, I had a little trouble finding your shopping cart. 3 clicks just to get to to your store seems a little too much. Otherwise it looks good.

Jeff using the coupon is how you can give a customer a discount for their next purchase and can be set up for one time use and can be set for a given dollar amount or a percentage off. Works very well. This how I give store credits to customers.
