Entered New Product - Now Pages Only Half Load

Hi! On a cheerful note - HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all. :clap:
Sadly my new year went a bit wonky when after adding a load of contributions, I added my first new product and discovered that my pages will now only half load :shocking:! Unfortunately, I was a bit overenthusiastic and added heaps of contributions before making general use of the site and so i have no idea how to begin to figure out where i went so horribly wrong. My only hope is that one of you guys can help me. Any thoughts would be SO appreciated even if they don't end up working!

The contributions i have added are:

• new sideboxes - about us & blank sideboxes & contact info contributions
• add customers from admin (1.03)
• admin notes advanced (0.914)
• back up mysql admin plugin (1.3)
• CSS flyout header (1.5)
• ezpages on sitemap (1.02)
• google base feeder
• google analytics
• google sitemap admin
• login box (1.5)
• module manager - which i think i deleted successfully
• quick updates (2.04)
• search log (2.00)
• specials scroller (1.3.8)
• testimonials manager
• what's new scroller
• zen lightbox (1.5)
• admin login as customer (2)
• cross sell advanced
• dangling carrot (1.3.2)
• edit cart
• edit orders
• image handler (2)
• improved attributes controller
• links manager
• stock attributes
• ultimate seo

Its also worth mentioning that none of our personalised page content loads either. FOr example, we have lots of graphics on the home page in the centre which we inserted using Define Pages Editor and none of it shows up after we have inserted a new product into the catalog. Hope's this helps.

This is a classic blank page problem. Your site is falling over an simply stops outputing information for visitor's browsers.

There is a FAQ Entry on this; but before you go there, I'd recommend taking a look at the size of the product image that you have uploaded with the new product.

By "size" I mean both file size and physical dimensions. I suspect that it may be overly large, causing one of the image libraries used by Image Handler to splutter and die. If that image is "big" in either or both senses, make it smaller and see if that cures your problem.

I would start by removing/disabling whatever sidebox is set to appear under special gifts....if there is one lol or the special gifts sidebox itself if not as it seems the page stops loading right there and I think that usually indicates and error in coding or syntax at that point...hope that helps :)

Wow - you were both right! Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. So far this is where i've got to:

1. when i deactivate the new products box - which i used the whats_new_scroller_1-3-8 contribution my website opens again.
2. when i use the debug error log utility which i found through the FAQ link, i get the following results:

Three things to note:

1. The part about the new products error appears in the log only when the new products box is active.
2. The blank screen problem only appears when the new products box is active. When this box is inactive I still get the 2 currencies errors appearing in the log.
3. I have tried to upload both files again in case there was a problem in the FTP but this hasn't had any effect.

I'm a bit of a blagger when it comes to code and so before i make a mess, i'd really appreciate it if you could have a look at relevant code for me. I've used dreamweaver to open the files and copied line 99 of each of the files...

Ok - good news to report back in case it one day helps someone else...

I've gotten rid of the problem for the new products error log that i was getting. All i did was resend (FTP) the following file to my server includes/functions/function_categories.php. I got the heads up from this thread: https://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?p=661381
Even though i was installing a 1.3.8 compatible contribution on a 1.3.8 store, resending that file did the trick. :clap:

I'm still working on the currencies.php error log and will post back if i figure it out.

Ok - new update... I realised that the dangling carrot contribution had amended the functions_categories.php file and so I uploaded the contribution version and got the half page problem back. I've now used winmerge to merge the original version with the contribution version and the page loads again. I'll get back to you if i encounter further problems on this one.

I've had no luck figuring out the currencies.php error log mentioned above and so would really appreciate it if anyone else has any ideas.
