No International Shipping Allowed?

How do I setup ZenCart so it will not allow international shipping at all?

Create a Zone for where you will ship and add it to all shipping modules ...

Not in the Zone ... you cannot checkout ... :smile:

I want to be able to ship just to the Continenal USA only. How do you set up a shipping zone for the 48 states?

Make a Zone and Call it something like: US 48

Add 48 States to it ...

Add to Shipping Module(s) ...

Bing bang boom! All done! :smile:

I think where I get confused with Zones is when you say

Make a Zone and Call it something like: US 48

Add 48 States to it ...

I can make a zone and add one country... I do not have anyplace to add 48 states.

Also, I want to limit the country dropdown to just this zone. I want to be able to ship to just the 48 states.

There has been discussion regarding this but never a clear cut answer.

To make a Zone of United States with just the 48 states ...

Go to Locations / Taxes ... Zones Definitions ...

Click Insert ...

Zone Name: US 48 States
Description: US 48 States plus DC

Click Insert ...

Build the 48 States plus DC
Click Details ...

Click Insert ...

Country: United States
Zone: Alabama

Click Insert ...

(Repeat for all the States until Done, don't forget District of Columbia)

One more quick question...I only want the usa to show up in the customer address dropdown. I do not want all the countries to show up. Is there anyway to limit this dropdown to just the US without just deleting all the unwanted countries in the the database.

I have the default country set in the customer detail screen but I still see all the countries when I create a customer account.

You would either need to remove the other countries or customize the SELECT statements on where the countries table is used ...

how would you customize the SELECT statements? I am in Canada and would only like to offer shipping within Canada for now, but I would like anyone in the world to place an order to be shipped within Canada.
Therefore, I know I just can't remove all the countries under LOCATIONS/TAXES. I also don't want someone be able to select an international shipping country from the dropdown menu only be be told on the next page that "we do not ship to this region". (I have already restricted the shipping zones)

Make a Zone just for:
Country: Canada
Zones: All Zones

and add it to your shipping module(s) and only orders shipped to Canada can be made ...

Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear with my question...

I have restricted the zones so that only shipping can be made within Canada, BUT customers can still choose another country when inputting a Shipping Address. ONLY after, on the next page of the checkout does it tell them that they can't ship to that region.

I want to limit the dropdown Country menu selection for a shipping address to only have Canada are the only country. Is this possible?

Either you would have to customize the code for this, or put in the Text that you only ship to Canada ...

If you remove all other countries, then that blocks "buying" from another country to "ship" to Canada ...

I appreciate the response. I do not have the coding abilities to do that, so I will be posting text stating that we only ship within Canada.

On small possible issue. When I added the zone to the shipping module (table rate), the green button turned yellow. Before, I had the shipping zones on None. Now I have US & Canada. Is this going to be a problem?

The yellow icon on the module is indicating that you have a filter or Zone on the module ...

Yes, you can go into ZenCart admin and remove the countries or use phpMyAdmin tool in your webhost to delete directly from database. This tutorial shows how.

I've followed that tutorial to remove countries except Australia. Now what happens is you can select Australia from the dropdown box, and you can also select a blank line. If you select the blank line, the state/province box is populated with USA states. Is this default behaviour or can this be changed? I checked my countries table and there's only one item there: Australia.

Any help appreciated.

Apologies. I just fixed my problem. In my admin section under Customer details, it still had the default country ID as 223, which is USA. I changed it to Australia and voila! It's fixed :)
