Remove category links from product area?

I can't seem to find a way to remove the category links from the product display area. I am using ZenCart1.38a with the ezBlue template but I am also using the Cherry zen template and have the same problem. I have enclosed a screen shot. The circled area is what I want to remove. Thanks in advance for your help.

Admin> Configuration> Layour Settings> Always Show Top Level Categories on Main Page - Disable it.

Providing a link to the site will help lots more than just an image.

Are the categories showing part of the define_main_page.txt?
Or due to an admin setting?

I tried this and in the ezblue template the featured products and the right sideboxes disappear. In the Cherry zen both sets of sideboxes and the featured products disappear. As a matter of fact in the Cherry zen template everything below "do you want to log in?"disappears.

When you change templates, are you resetting the sideboxes?

They are there in the classic and yes I reset the boxes every time I change templates. I have noticed this on other web sites also. With the categories at the top and in the side box it seems redundant to have them in this area and would like my products to appear right below the log in message.
