best way to remove product price ?

I need to remove the displayed price in the product listing only ? is there a way with out removing by hard coding please ?

if this is the only way I guess I would edit tpl_product_info_display.php and comment out:

<!--bof Product Price block --> <h2 id="productPrices" class="productGeneral">

line62-63

don't want to break it !!!

Thanks

Re: best way to remove product price ?

Thank you for helping, I tried that in product listing/ Display Product Price/Add to Cart 0 and set 0 and update but it had no effect ?

I tried it a couple of times to make sure I was in the right place, and wasn't sure it was the right tool for it ?

Thanks

Re: best way to remove product price ?

Sorry, correction on my last post. The product listing/ Display Product Price/Add to Cart to 0 does actually work and removed the price and add to cart in the category listing. This is also what I wanted thanks. I was looking at the product display.
Here in the product display, the product price still remains. and I need to hide it ?

I tried to comment out this:

<!--bof Product Price block --> <!-- <h2 id="productPrices" class="productGeneral"> -->

but it only took away the style in bold and left the price still.

Probably need to comment out elsewhere, ideas would be gratefully received

Thanks

Re: best way to remove product price ?

If you go to new listing and product listing and set price display to 0 doesn't that mean every product will show no price? How can you do it so only some products don't reveal price?

Also that css doesn't work in the guts of it - I can tell when I go to my facebook linked cart and the price still displays.

WHY do you want those products to display no price?

If your products are not for sale, then create them using the "Document General" product-type, instead of "Product-General". And then their price won't be shown in the store because no price is ever set for them.

Re: best way to remove product price ?

DrByte because essentially they are tickets and I need the category and then the main product name without price because the attributes give prices but MUST be grouped as one under same product heading
, so not to overbook the show.

Re: best way to remove product price ?

Of course my product is for sale but only by attribute which is fine in zen cart but the problem is with linked cart on facebook. I'm having to configure everything to suit both carts working in tandem.:unsure:

Re: best way to remove product price ?

Then your situation has nothing to do with the matter discussed by the people before you 2 years ago.

Sounds like you need to do some refining to your custom code that's feeding your facebook data. It's not a Zen Cart problem.

Re: best way to remove product price ?

You are right but in the way of doing that I've stumbled across info I'd not considered before. First that you can turn off display price and cart in two separate areas of admin but my cart still displays when I tested it (no i don't want to turn cart off actually) but just try to learn things as I go- easy to get sidetracked! Secondly you have alerted me to the product types and I'm wondering now if that is the way I should be going with this. But when I create a new product it doesn't give me an option to select general or otherwise? What's the point of product types, I will have to find a tutorial...

Yes it does. Next to the "New Product" button there's a pulldown menu to select what kind of product you're creating.
A product's type cannot be changed after it's created.

Re: best way to remove product price ?

Ok thanks, will look into it. For now I'll have to keep going and ignore problems with linked cart.
