I'm new and confused!

I just bought a domain at Camelot and it installed Zen Cart for me. Now my question is, Where do I go to change scripts?? Like I am wanting to change my template but from what I'm reading at the wiki I should have it installed on my computer. Do I need to install on my computer? And once I do, where do I place the new scripts? How do I make new scripts?? Oh my gosh, this is so confusing!

Re: I'm new and confused!

It's extremely helpful to have Zen Cart unzipped on your computer. You don't have to run it there (although you can). Once you have Zen Cart unzipped, you'll be able to see the folder and file structure which will help you understand what the tutorials/FAQ and Wiki are talking about.

As Kobra said, the tutorials/FAQ will be more helpful to you when you're starting out. Searching the forum can be helpful as well.

Re: I'm new and confused!

I've read the install in the FAQ's several times. Have done everything it said to do, and still nothing. Camelot did the Zen Cart for me, so where do I find those files in the FTP? DO I have to put them there myself? I've tried this, but when I go to change the "Congratulations, you have installed your....." it doesn't change anything when I save it. Is there someone that is using camelot that can walk me through this please?

Re: I'm new and confused!

Ok, I've read all of that. I don't think I'm being understood here. I did not install Zen Cart, Camelot did it for me. Where are the files? Without the files, the above FAQ's are useless to me.

They are in your account on the server...
Do you have a FTP client application?
Can you connect to your account using FTP?
When you do you will see your files/structure

Yes I have FileZilla, which is another thing I'm totally lost at lol. It connects up just fine. But when I change things in FireZilla, it doesn't show up on my Zen Cart Admin. Oh my gosh this is difficult!

But when I change things in FireZilla
filezilla is not an editor - - it is a transfer portal you FTP a file from your server to your local. Open this file in a PLAIN Text editor, make your changes, SAVE, and FTP it to a NEW location for your template on the server

Re: I'm new and confused!

Well, thanks for all the help. I have given up and have hired a friend who has a successful store to set this all up for me. I just can't get it.

Have them tutor you as there will be other things you need to accomplish later

Re: I'm new and confused!

Hey Kobra, I will definitely be tutoring her, I much prefer to teach how it can be done than breeze in and do it....and her first challenge will be following my steps to activate the new template once it is uploaded LOL but I have faith Megan will catch on pretty quickly!
