Is there any mapping to the home page objects

Is there any mapping documentation for the home page objects so that one can find where in Admin you can make changes or remove home page objects such as:

-Search box on right side
-Sponsors box on right side
-Reviews [more] box on left side
-More Information box on left side

I find I have to hunt and peck, trial and error and search for something that might be applied to a box on the home page. There has to be a better way to customize the home page objects.

Start with admin>tools>layout boxes controller

Re: Is there any mapping to the home page objects

I've been there. There isn't a one to one relatioship. For example one of the featured.php items relates to a home page side box labeled differently.

The end result is that I have to turn off boxes mainly by trial and error. So it seems there is no mapping info that shows where in admin you have to go to enable/disable home page objects.

The home page objects (side boxes, the multiple Sponsors especially) should have an admin label with the same names so you can easily see what it controls without having to "try it" to see if thats the one.

This is very disappointing to me as it makes the ZC learning curve more difficult than it should be.

sidebox/featured.php controls the sidebox labeled "featured". I don't see the mystery in that.

Take a look at http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Sideboxes#Overview_of_Sideboxes

Re: Is there any mapping to the home page objects

That's only one. Yes, there are others that are labeled correctly like that one but there are also others that are not labeled to match the home page objects.

Sponsors come to mind. There are multiple sponsor boxes on the home page and they are each configured with their own controls and those names do not have "sponsor" in them. So you have to use trial and error to find the admin control for them.

I'm guessing this has happened over multiple version releases as new objects were added to the home page and they were just not sync'd up with their respective labels.

Re: Is there any mapping to the home page objects

The banner_box sideboxes are reasonably id-named as a set of similar objects, but they are given unrelated heading names according to their display suggestion. These are the only sideboxes in the whole list that are not intuitive.
Since they can be expected to be retitled by some users for their own purposes, it would make less sense to have the usage suggestion be the fundamental object id.
