Seeing Credit Card Number in ZC

So I've setup my ZC to just record an order. I go into Admin and view the orders myself. I was expecting to see the full credit card number so that I can manually enter the order into my merchant account.

(1) I have small volume so it's not too bad to do this myself and (2) my merchant processor is not listed in ZC as a payment processor.

I searched around the forum and it looks to me like ZC does not display the customers full credit card number in the Admin section of Orders.

Does this mean that ZC only accepts payments when you have enabled a payment processor to handle the CC payment automatically (ZC creates the purchase record into your merchant account for you)?

How do those who manually take CC payments get the CC number into their payment processor if we can't see the whole CC number?

Firstly, taking credit card details online, for the purpose of later "manual" processing through an EPOS terminal, is generally in contravention of your Merchant Agreement with the clearing bank. This is because of security issues, and to prevent fraud.

If you take credit card payments in this manner, and your bank finds out, they will cancel your account and blacklist you - meaning that you will be unlikely to establish another processing account. It will have disastrous consequences for your business.

If you accept this risk, then you can use the Credit Card payment module that accompanies a standard install of zencart. (This is to be discontinued in the next version of ZC.)

The credit card payment module will split the card number into two sections. The outer four-digit sets (8 digits in total) will be e-mailed to you. The inner 8 digits will be captured with the order.

When you get a c.card payment, you will need to collect the e-mail corresponding to the order, call up the order in admin, then match up the two number sets in order to get the full number.

Do not take my instructions as advice to do this. As I said, the practice of taking c.card numbers in this manner is absolutely discouraged.

Zen Cart uses a split method,
you need to look in the module and set a mailing address,

OK, so I saw your post on the other thread...

If your bank is happy with the arrangement, then taking c.card payments in this way ought to be above-board.

However, webshops that do have systems to store c.card data are almost always built using custom software, with the specs regarding database storage of such numbers built specifically to the client's (and the bank's) needs.

As ZC is a general public service, the software is built to perform for a general audience.

There is nothing preventing you from (re)writing code that will capture the c.card full details, as ZC is opensource, and you can do with it whatever you please.
