SnapShot [support thread]

Just installed this on another site after successfully installing and using on some other sites, and have run in to a problem. When run it produces:

can't open file

Debug log is:

[22-Apr-2012 16:41:18] PHP Warning: mkdir() [<a href='function.mkdir'>function.mkdir</a>]: No such file or directory in /home/user_name/public_html/admin_folder/snapshot.php on line 41
[22-Apr-2012 16:41:18] PHP Warning: fopen(/home/user_name/public_html/admin/backups/snapshot/snapshot_cron.php) [<a href='function.fopen'>function.fopen</a>]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/user_name/public_html/admin_folder/snapshot.php on line 68

Backups folder is set at 777.

Server info:

Zen Cart 1.39h
PHP 5.2.17
MySQL 5.5.19-55

Any ideas?

The best way to learn is to try stuff. But, back it up first.

This is a permissions issue.

When you first run snapshot it builds the directory tree and files off the backup folder.

If you look at snapshot.php in your admin folder you will see starting about line 31 the tree and file build section.

You could manual build the folder YOUR_ADMIN/backups/snapshot/ and see if when you run snapshot again if it will build the files needed.

But if permissions are wrong snapshot still will not build the files that are needed.

Re: SnapShot [support thread]

Permissions are set correctly at 777. Already tried manually building the folder. Same result.

Re: SnapShot [support thread]

I have seen 775 work on some servers.
It all comes down to how the server is setup.
I would ask your hosting company about it.

Re: SnapShot [support thread]

Aaack!

I installed SnapShot into a vanilla ZC1.5. After playing around with some things, I decided to do a fresh ZC install from scratch again.

But now my renamed admin folder keeps persisting, no matter how many times I delete via ftp or File Manager. I suppose this is a good thing in case of attack, but I really want to get rid of it!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike

Did you setup a cron for the old SnapShot install? if so did you delete that cron?

Re: SnapShot [support thread]

I thought somehow a cron got set up automagically, so I checked via cpanel. No cron.

Here is exactly what persists:
RENAMED_ADMIN/backups/snapshot/snapshot_cron.php
RENAMED_ADMIN/backups/snapshot/snapshot_filewatch.txt

And yes, that is from the old install.

Re: SnapShot [support thread]

Who is the owner of the snapshot folder? 99, nobody
Sounds like you do not have the user rights to delete snapshot folder.

Re: SnapShot [support thread]

I created the folder while in the first ZC, maybe ownership got assigned that way? I have subsequently deleted the files and the sql db.

How do I view/change ownership?

Re: SnapShot [support thread]

I just installed Snapshot, and I'm using 1.5.1. I attempted to set up a cron job, but the email messages keep saying:

/bin/sh: /home5/user/public_html/my_admin/backups/snapshot/snapshot_cron.php: Permission denied

Any thoughts about this? I did a couple tests by changing files, but the email message is still the same. The changes, however, show up in the admin panel.

In snapshop_cron.php, I have the following setting:
$fw->reportAlways(true);

Is there anything else I should be doing?

Re: SnapShot [support thread]

/bin/sh: /home5/user/public_html/my_admin/backups/snapshot/snapshot_cron.php: Permission denied

I would say its is telling you that you do not have shell access.

most cpanel and some other cron commands would look like this

php /home5/user/public_html/my_admin/backups/snapshot/snapshot_cron.php

Sorry I forgot to post that I figured it out. My host required additional text to the command. The cron job is working beautifully! This is a great mod for peace of mind.

While we're at it, should the time interval setting in snapshot_cron.php be longer or the same as the interval setting on cron? So is it possible to get a false negative report if snaphot had a shorter time interval than the cron job? I want to make sure I have my time intervals set properly.

If you look in the file snapshot_cron.php you will see that it is set NOT to run within 15 minutes of a run. So even if you have the cron run every 10 minutes snap shot will NOT run on the first call but on the second call. Most users have the cron set to run every hour.
