Reading Debug error log

Hi,

I have 3 error logs, but how do I decipher them to know what the error is?

Re: Reading Debug error log

Sorry,

The files are named PAYPAL_CURL_EC etc.

Does this help?

Re: Reading Debug error log

Thats what I'm not sure about.
The error is related to the PayPal_Curl I suspect.

It shows a transaction but it does not show up on the paypal site.

last portion of error log

[CURL_ERRORS] => )GetExpressCheckoutDetails, Elapsed: 778ms -- Success

Does this help?

Re: Reading Debug error log

So ... are you looking for PayPal problems? Or are you looking for something else?
Surely there's some history behind you going looking for debug logs? Care to share it?

Re: Reading Debug error log

Yes,

The history comes from not receiving the middle digits via email.
While I was investigating I noticed the error logs in the cache folder (3) and that the order date in them were not showing up on the paypal site.

I am wondering why the orders are not showing up and where has the money gone based on the success portion of the log.

Re: Reading Debug error log

The PayPal logs have nothing to do with Credit Card middle-digits being sent in an email.

The PayPal Express Checkout transactions consist of three steps: SetExpressCheckout details (which prepares and sends customer to PayPal site), GetExpressCheckout (which retrieves data from PayPal based on what customer filled in on the PayPal site), and DoExpressCheckoutPayment (which actually captures the payment). If you're seeing only "Set" and/or "Get" logs, but no corresponding "Do" logs, then you're just simply seeing cases where customers abandoned the payment process before actually completing payment. That's entirely normal and no reason for alarm on the technical level. As for reasons why customers may be abandoning payment, well, that's an entirely different topic for another discussion.

Re: Reading Debug error log

Ahhh,

I presume that they are abandoned orders.

Thank you very much

Re: Reading Debug error log

Okay, moving forward,

It appears as thought the paypal orders are working, they are in the account, but i will show you the two logs for each purchase that I will need help with.

[30-Jan-2009 15:10:19] PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /includes/functions/functions_email.php on line 287

[31-Jan-2009 13:56:58] PHP Warning: Division by zero in /includes/modules/order_total/ot_group_pricing.php on line 79

I left out part of the address for what I thought would be sensitive info.

Re: Reading Debug error log

Quote from the text on both of the "New Post" and "Reply" screens:> NOTE: When making a post, be sure to include relevant information such as:

* What version of Zen Cart are you using?
* Has your site been upgraded? When? From what version(s)?
* What addons have you installed? When?
* In what ways is your site customized or different from a brand new uncustomized install?
* If you're encountering display/layout problems, post your site URL* so it can be seen in action.
* If you're encountering problems that could be related to your server or hosting company, include the name of your hosting company (not their URL).
* HAVE YOU LOOKED IN THE FAQ AREA for answers to your question? (ie: a search for your error message or what you want to edit/change, etc)
* Have you searched the FORUM for your error message or for answers to the question you're asking?
* WHEN did the problem "start"? How does that compare with other events of your hosting company, changes you've made to your site files/addons, or your admin settings, etc?
* If this is your first store, have you tested all aspects of transactions before going live?

*NOTE: Search engines index this site very quickly. Posting your URL will cause your site and your post to show up in search engines. If you want to prevent that, put spaces between each letter of the domain name in your URL.
And I'll add ... Have you looked in the Known Issues section for possible fixes? ie: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?p=487733#post487733

Re: Reading Debug error log

Okay,

I found the fix for the order total and put in the new code, I'll watch and see if anything else comes up.
Now I did do a search for the first one but no threads.

[30-Jan-2009 15:10:19] PHP Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /includes/functions/functions_email.php on line 287

I upgraded from 1.3.7 to 1.3.8a a clean install.

Checked toe FAQ's as well.

Re: Reading Debug error log

The version of Zen Cart you're using is important ... because line 287 of that particular file contains different things depending which version you're running.

If the program is stopping on line 287 of functions_email.php in v1.3.8a, then your server has encountered an error while trying to send an email, and is trying to set up a display of the error message details but is unable to do so for some reason.

When you upgraded, did you happen to check/test sending emails from your site afterward?
What are your settings in Admin->Configuration->Email Options?

Re: Reading Debug error log

Thank you Dr.Byte,

Strangely, I can't see an option for send test email, I looked a few times to be sure I didn't miss it.

Is it the email friendly options?

Re: Reading Debug error log

There are many events in Zen Cart that send emails. You should always test them all on your live site before taking orders, just as you should test all functions/features of the software to be sure they're operating as you desire.

Whether you have the Email Friendly Error message on or off, doesn't determine whether you can send emails or not. That only determines whether you get a blank screen showing an error message or whether the error message simply shows at the top of the next page in a red bar. Focusing on that setting is not going to solve whether the email system works or not.

I had asked what your email settings are. But since you don't want to share those, I'll just point you to general email-troubleshooting tips: http://www.zen-cart.com/wiki/index.php/Troubleshoot_-_Email_Problems

Re: Reading Debug error log

Oops, I think I misread your email. Sorry again.
I did try out some but not all of the email options.

I listed the options that I think effect the outcome of emails.
In the meantime I will be contacting the server for corrections.
Hopefully this is enough info.
I looked into the wiki but could not see anything
I also downloaded the email archive manager so I will look at it closely.

E-Mail Transport Method smtp
E-Mail Linefeeds CRLF
Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails false
Send E-Mails true
Verify E-Mail Addresses Through DNS false
Email Archiving Active? true
E-Mail Friendly-Errors true
Email Address (Displayed to Contact you) [email protected]
Email Address (sent FROM) [email protected]
Emails must send from known domain? Yes
Email Admin Format? HTML

Are you using "SMTP" mode for a particular reason?

Re: Reading Debug error log

Hi again,

I used the SMTP mode to see if I would get any errors.
It was originally SMTPAUTH prior to yesterday.

Re: Reading Debug error log

Well, use whichever one works. Did you try "PHP" mode?

Re: Reading Debug error log

Dr.Byte,

No I haven't tried the PHP yet, thought I would give the SMTP a couple of days to see what would happen.
