Downloads don't seem to be working (v1.3.0.2)

Hi there.. I'm hoping that someone will have a clue to the answer to our problem.

Downloads will not fully complete, even with small files. (under 10mb)

We've been through countless threads here and tried many of the suggestions, although none has seemed to work.

Went through the FAQ, as well as contacted the hosting company. They have supposedly checked everything and claim there were no problems on their end, that our problem lies somwhere within the Zen Cart app.

I'm including all the info I know.. and some i'm sure you probably might not need.

Ok we have

Zen Cart 1.3.0.2
Database Patch Level 1.3.0.2
PHP Version 4.4.7

Server OS: Linux 2.6.24.7
Database: MySQL 5.0.45-log

Server Up Time:
PHP Version: 4.4.7 (Zend: 1.3.0)
HTTP Server: Apache

Hosting is blue domino and one of the addon functions was the automatic install of zen cart for us.

We downloaded and successfully installed the free-wide-2 template from zenf lavor .com

We have been able to add store products, as well as set attributes, names and options. Have uploaded the zip files to the download folder via ftp (Ipswitch) and attach them to the products-
the "green light" is lit, and it also shows on the product that it is a zip file.

The problem started with the downloads.
It was set on:
Enable downloads - true
Download by Redirect - true
Download by Streaming - false

and when we would click the download button for the file, it would go to a http 400 error page not found. no matter what we tried.

Changed to redirect-false
streaming - true

it brings up the download but won't finish.. now this is not a huge file.. it is 2.9mb
it gets to about 2.75 and hangs.

changed redirect - false
streaming-false

same problem - download won't complete.

I've upped the time out time in the php.ini file as suggested.. that hasn't helped
can download the file back to pc from ftp and it downloads/unzips with no problems

Have the GZip compression set to - 0 which should be off...
the permissions have been checked as suggested here.. and are set correctly
the files are all zips.
The .htaccess file does inclyde this line - Options +FollowSymLinks -Indexes

This is what reads in the site error log:

PHP Fatal error: main() [<a href='function.require'>function.require</a>]: Failed opening required 'includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_download_default.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php-4.4.7/lib/php') in /hermes/web02/b813/blu.username/zencart/includes/templates/template_default/common/tpl_main_page.php on line 115

have searched through all the files and can't find one of these.
includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_download_default.php'

our domain is www.cre ators-all ey.com (without the spaces) and there is a free/test product that includes a test download.

The cart is in the main hosting directory, and the domain points to the zencart.

We've been at this all week, and it's starting to get really frustrating. So I'm hoping someone here can help shed some light on the problem.

Thanks so much if you've read down this far.

Julie

Re: Downloads don't seem to be working (v1.3.0.2)

julieintn:

Zen Cart 1.3.0.2
Database Patch Level 1.3.0.2

There were several known bugs in v1.3.0.2, which have been addressed in subsequent releases. Even some download-related matters.

*06/21/2006 - v1.3.0.2
09/03/2006 - v1.3.5
10/27/2006 - v1.3.6
12/30/2006 - v1.3.7
07/01/2007 - v1.3.7.1
11/30/2007 - v1.3.8
12/11/2007 - v1.3.8a
09/19/2008 - security patch
09/22/2008 - security patch update
*

I would suggest perhaps trying a more recent version of Zen Cart

Thank you :)

That is what we have done. We had assumed that the "quick install" provided by the hosting would have been the most recent version.

We ended up completely uninstalling that cart, and doing a fresh manual install.. which obviously knocked out a lot of the previous bugs.

Now we're just attempting to get the hosting to understand that we can't keep all the files to be downloaded under 10mb...

They are telling us that it's a scripting issue and not their problem :(

We have adjusted and increased the php.ini file as suggested here in numerous threads but that hasn't helped the problem.

Okay, so you've made some changes, upgraded the software, etc. ... So, let's start again ...

What version are you now using, have you added any addons, and what exactly are the symptoms you're experiencing now?
And, since you've talked about download problems, if you open the failed download file, what's in it? (ie: use a text/hex editor like Notepad++ or Crimson Editor to "open" the file). How does what is in the file compare to what should be in the file?
