book and check dates, not products?

I may not be a zen cart question but I don’t know where to ask this and I figure people here will know.

I need to make a site where people can register, then log in and book dates. When they book a date they get a date an email is sent to me so I can send them an invoice in the post. I also need them to be able to see the dates they have booked when ever they log in.

Is Zen cart the best way to do this? The rest of the site is just normal html, probably with some CMS.

I suppose you could use Zencart, but it seems like overkill, since you're not using payment or shipping functions.

I'd guess that a CMS program like Joomla would have plugins available for just this application.
