Exceeding 50,000 DB Queries /hour?

My Server company fatcow recently gave me a warning that I have exceeded over 50,000 queries per hour over the last 7 days. Now I'm not sure how many queries I am getting now or if my visitors were getting any errors once the limit was reached. I do not see any current errors on the site. My question is - since I am getting a small amount of traffic at this point -usually under 60 visitors, is it reasonable to assume that a handful of users (the most I see online at any time is 4) can generate 50,000 database queries in one hour or is something broken? Will using cache help bring query number down? To implement cache is it just a matter of toggling to 'file' on the config file and specifying a cache directory?
Fatcow is suggesting that I cough up 20. a month for 150,000 queries per hour but I don't even know if this will be enough because I have no way of viewing number of queries during any given time frame.

And even if yellow's suggestion doesn't help, this approach (which can be combined with the other one) will help work around it: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24089

That thread assumes you can create multiple database users for the same database, which is not possible with all control panels.

50,000 queries per hour... So what? It doesn't matter how many queries You execute, it matters how much load You generate. Check page parse times and query times of single request, if they are low (around 1.0 sec for parse time and 0.5 for query time) You're fine. If Your hosting company tries to charge You on 'queries per hour' basis, dump them.

Re: Exceeding 50,000 DB Queries /hour?

Thanks for the Mod. I will give that a try. I can setup multiple db users for any domains. Does anyone know how I would be able to determine my qph? I have a number of domains using zencart and my hosting company said that they cannot provide me with data on how many queries per hour I am getting when the limits are exceeded, or for any time frame for that matter. They can tell me about hits etc. but no data relevant to number the actual queries per hour. I had to switch servers as my previous server company (shanje) shut down 2 of my sites without warning for "excessive processor" use. They claimed that somehow that 2 of my sites were using all the processing resources on their server. So it took me a while to change servers over and get settled in - so I'm not anxious to start that process over again.
