Homepage only shows New Products

I've been trying everything but I cannot figure out why my homepage will only show New Products.

I've switched the default template but that is not displaying anything other than New Products as well. There are no "0" values in the Index Listings.

Any ideas? Am I missing a setting somewhere to display more than one item on the homepage?

Have you created any Featured items or Specials?

Yes, well I guess that changes my question a little bit, how do I get popular products on there? Or a listing of products from a certain category?
