Why doesnt my define_main_page.php show anymore?

My define_main_page.php text no longer shows on my homepage.

Its been there forever, and ive never removed it in any settings (if one even exists).

Any hints?

Obviously something has changed about your files or server. What have you done with your site recently? Has your host changed anything? We can't even give hints without more information. What version is your Zen Cart? Can you post a link to see it?
Can you still see define_main_page.php in Define Pages Editor?

Re: Why doesnt my define_main_page.php show anymore?

Your define_main_page output (indexDefaultMainContent) is commented out in the HTML output:```html

<!-- bof breadcrumb --> <!-- eof breadcrumb --> <!-- bof upload alerts --> <!-- eof upload alerts --> <div id="indexDefault"> <!-- deprecated - to use uncomment this section <div id="" class="content">This is the main define statement for the page for english when no template defined file exists. It is located in: <strong>/includes/languages/english/index.php</strong></div> deprecated - to use uncomment this section <div id="" class="content">Define your main Index page copy here.</div> --> <!-- <div id="indexDefaultMainContent" class="content"> <div style="text-align: center;"><h2>Do you know what it takes to brake a 3,500 lb car from 160 to 50mph three times a lap, every two minutes for 25 hours? We do... </h2></div> <p /><h3>Who are we and what do we do? </h3><br />E-brakes.com developed out of my own personal motorsports enthusiasm and racing career. My racing friends and I found it difficult to find a single source of braking materials where the advice given was not colored by a relationship with a vendor, or a discount. In short, trying to find what the RIGHT brake pad to use for any given condition was nearly impossible.<p> <table border="0" align="center"><tbody><tr><td align="left"> <h4>Do we have brakes and racing materials for your car? </h4><br />Most likely, YES! Use our search function to find what brakes we have in available for your car. If we don't have brakes for your car, we can have them made for you. Just <a href="mailto:[email protected]">contact us</a> for details.</td><td align="center"></td></tr></tbody></table> </p><p> </p><h3>E-Brakes.com is here to help you... </h3><br />understand why many types of brake pads are on the market, and what they all do differently from each other. We can't tell you specifically what brake pad will solve all of your issues, but we <b>can</b> get you on the right path with an overview of how each pad should perform, and, using your feedback, fine tune your selection to the pad that fits how <b>you</b> drive.<p> </p><p> </p><h3>We provide discounts to the public, and especially for racers... </h3><br />because that's where this company came from. We are actively involved in a number of Rally, Road Racing, Enduro and Extreme Endurance driving teams, in consulting with them on how to best balance friction, temperature and modulation properties to fit their driving environments the best. We also use our knowledge on our own cars! We drive over 100 miles per day on mountain roads (very similar to a road course!) in our street cars, we use our brakes on our race cars as well.<p> </p></div> --> </div> </td> ```

Re: Why doesnt my define_main_page.php show anymore?

So it is being output, but inside comment tags. You didn't put those in define_main_page.php, did you? The alternative would be that you HTML-commented the section of the file that calls define_main_page.php. HTML comments don't affect PHP, so the file is still being processed inside the comment tags.

No way...guaranteed I didnt edit any PHP files, or HTML. Something is dynamically telling it to comment it out, and im not a PHP guy at all, I wouldnt even pretend to know where to do that.

Re: Why doesnt my define_main_page.php show anymore?

Did you touch define_main_page.php? That is a PHP file, even though its content is generally HTML.
As for what might be dynamically happening, the fact that you have a Template Monster template means that we can't even guess what custom coding they have put in.

Re: Why doesnt my define_main_page.php show anymore?

I found it..

I disabled: Categories - Always Show on Main Page In the Layout Settings, because I didnt want to show categories on the front page in the main body there..and that is what nuked the main_page.php display.

So..I still wanna nuke showing those at the bottom..but not get rid of the welcome text.

Re: Why doesnt my define_main_page.php show anymore?

OK, disabling the categories display on the home page should not affect define_main_page content. That is a problem introduced by your template's coding.
