Alt Tag Product Pictures?

Is it possible or a good idea to have alt tag for product images? Is there a way I can set it somewhere for the product pictures to automatically have the title of the product the alt tag?

Zen Cart automatically sets the alt and title tags for product images to use the name of the product.
