Show Attributes Prices & Info on Products Page Display

Hello All,

First let me say these forums have helped me a TON, so much so I have only ever had to post a question once (twice?) before. Thank you to everyone for contributing their knowledge. I hope to get to the point where I can actually contribute some useful info soon. I also appologize if I am repeat posting but I have intensely searched for the last 2 days and haven't found my solution.

I am currently customizing this site:
http://www.javajonescoffeehouse.com/

I have a completed a pretty thorough graphic redesign, but now I am trying to also customize some functionality.

What I want to do is show the weight & price of attributes alongside the regular product price. Take this product for example:

http://www.javajonescoffeehouse.com/mile-high-blend-p-190.html

1 lb. costs $5.95 and is displayed prominently. However, in order for a customer to see the discount they receive, they have to click the "Number of Pounds" dropdown to reveal 2 lbs. +$10.95. Here's what I LOVE to see in the product price <h2> tag:

$5.95 | 1lb(s) $22.90 | 2lbs $54.75 | 5lbs

The client is trying very hard to sell orders of more than 1lb at a time and the main selling point is the discount you receive when you purchase more than 1 pound. It would be terribly helpful to find a simple, dynamic way to put attribute info/pricing along with (or even directly underneath) the standard pricing block.

I am not opposed to writing some PHP if I have to, hopefully someone has some insight?

Thanks in advance, I'm going to sleep now before my eyes fall out of my head!

Re: Show Attributes Prices & Info on Products Page Display

  1. Simplest approach: enter the prices into the description in the product detail entry in admin. Include a div or span with a class so you can style this bit to match the price line, or even to stand out from the price (which could be set to not display, I suppose.)

Advantage: no code changes required

  1. Code approach: there is code that generates that drop-down. Find it and re-use it so that it adds to the price line. You'd still need a way to allow the purchaser to select the amount they want, so you could leave the drop-down for that. When you're re-using the code, place it into the code section that is getting and displaying the price so that it will be styled along with the price.
