Can't get ssl logo to sit in Header

I am viewing the site in both ff and IE 7 and the header looks exact in both browsers.... It's possible you viewed it while I was working on it. Check now I confirm they are exact except for the footer which I am working on. dbltoe Thanks for the feedback I like not so much your second feedback:wink: Once I am done with the footer I will be movig on to the bestseller sidebox to fix the text going outside of the box.

Re: Can't get ssl logo to sit in Header

I have some good news and some bad news. :laugh:

The SSL image is now tucked in where it's supposed to be. :bigups:

But... The Search button is centered below the search text field and is overlapping the horizontal category menu, directly over (by 'over' I mean 'on top of') the word Casual in the Casual Shoes button.

As others have suggested, it may be wise at this point to start over with a clean slate. I did that 3 times on my first shop, learning more each time. It seems drastic but it's worth it.

Re: Can't get ssl logo to sit in Header

Thank Rob, What broswer and version are you viewing the site in and what is your screen resolution. I ask this because I do not see that. The search file and button fit right in the navMainWrapper and there is no overlapping with over the word Casual.

This is my third attempts. I've started with classic, then ArkiTEC-HD Black, and finally comstock, so doing it a fourth time isn't something I am fond of doing, besides my shop is live!. I know what is happening now and can change what needs to be modified without the guess work. In my browser both ff and IE site looks exactly same...

Even the footer is now complete and looks great.

Re: Can't get ssl logo to sit in Header

I'm seeing that problem in FF 3.0.5 and Opera 9.61, both in Mac OS X v10.4. I don't see that in Safari, which if memory serves, uses a different rendering engine than either of FF or Opera.

Probably no need to put it high on your priorities list.

Re: Can't get ssl logo to sit in Header

Rob thankx for checking into that. I may have located where I can fix that problem. I think this line of code which is from tpl_search_header.php is responsible for that

$content .= zen_draw_input_field('keyword', '', 'size="26" maxlength="100" style="width: ' . ($column_width-30) . 'px" value="' . HEADER_SEARCH_DEFAULT_TEXT . '" onfocus="if (this.value == \'' . HEADER_SEARCH_DEFAULT_TEXT . '\') this.value = \'\';" onblur="if (this.value == \'\') this.value = \'' . HEADER_SEARCH_DEFAULT_TEXT . '\';"') . '<input type="submit" value="' . HEADER_SEARCH_BUTTON . '" style="width: 50px" />';

======
Not too sure which value to change. I am suspecting ($column_width-30) since this value alots that field a colum of only 30 it may be necessary to wrap the button if it exceeds that amount. What do you experts think? or perhaps it's (maxlength="100") but i doubt it.

I intend on increasing it but I dont have that browser to check it after words.

Log in, then add something to your cart, you should see extra buttons displayed where your search bar is... and that may not look good...

I know about the extra button (chekout), which is why I left some space to the left of the search filed. I am refering to the search button that you said it drops down and overlaps the word "CASUAL" in "CASUAL SHOES". I just have a gut feeling that this (($column_width-30) .) from the above code is responsible for that.

I am going to increase that value to 70 can you please view it in your browser and see how it looks.

Many thanks s_t_e_v_e

Re: Can't get ssl logo to sit in Header

Well since either nobody sees the same as me or doesn't believe me I thought I would screen shot what I see in IE7 when I first go to the site, refresh the page, or when moving to a new page. Hovering the logo makes everything come up to where its supposed to be.

barco57 I will try getting to another borwser and view that. Do you know Why this is happening and what do you suggest to resolve it?

barco57 I got to another browser its IE v6.0 or lower that are causing this issue. What you see for a glimpse is how ie v.6.0 renders the code. I've fixed it and now you should not see that anymore.:clap:

Thanks for poiting it out.

One down, one to go. :D

Here's a screen shot of the dropping Search button, that I see in both FF 3.0.5 and Opera 9.61, both in Mac OS X v10.4.

Rob thankx for the screen shot I had this fixed but now I've been experimenting with it and as a result guess it's back on your system. Not soo much on my priority list like you said but I'll post in the forum when I make changes to it.
