attribute options for certain items, but not others?

Hi,

Is it possible to just have the attribute options for certain products, but not the qty box?

I want the user to select from 1/2 dozen, 1 dozen, 2 dozen muffins via the Radio field options for each product, then just hit "Add to Cart." If the field is there too, I think this will confuse the user.

However, there will be some products, such as gift baskets, where they won't buy by the dozen, they'll use the qty box.

So yeah, I need to remove the qty box for some products, but not for others.

Ahhhh, after typing that all out, it just came to me...

Simple solution:

Check: "No, Do not show Quantity Bo" when adding or editing products. Only apply this to the items you don't want to provide qty fields too, the rest will stay the same.

Oh yeah, I'd still like to learn how to remove the plus sign "+" preceding each option price. So if you know, please show...tell.

Why would you want to remove the + sign?

When I add to cart it looks like it is the Product Price + the Attribute Price that I select ... :unsure:

If this is not the case, what prices "should" I be seeing when I add the Product to the cart with the various choices?

Yeah, you're right, it's adding the product and the attribute price by mistake. It should only add the attribute price. I'll fix this.

Regarding the "+" part, I don't need it there because it's not an additional amount, hence the plus sign. That may or may not make sense, but in any case, we don't need the plus sign and in fact it could be confusing the the customers. Any idea how to remove this?

The + or Blank Prefix on the Attribute is for ADD ...

The - Prefix on the Attribute is for SUBTRACT ...

You do this on a per Attribute basis ...

Setting the Attribute Prefix Default, as tony_sar suggested, helps with "future" Attributes ... not with ones already added ...

If you want ALL Attributes to have BLANK Prefixes on those already added you could run an update on the products_attributes table to remove all the existing ones, if there are too many to edit ...

Backup your database before running this command:

UPDATE products_attributes SET price_prefix = '';

I am wondering if I can set up an option for a product for download, but also sell it as a physical product. I don't want to set up two listings of a product if I don't have to, one for download land one for the physical item. Is it possible to do this?

You can setup the Product with Attributes ...

On the Download add the filename, days and count ...

On the Product add the Weight ...

You may wish to also add an additional Option Value for:
Pick your Media Method
Display Only YES
Default YES
Sort Order 0

so that the customer has to pick either the Download or the CD or what have you ... :smile:

Hi, total noob here and I'm trying to setup a single music product with combined physical / download options like CD, MP3, FLAC, etc, much like singingdrum2 has requested. I've been playing around with attributes for a while now but with no real luck, and yes, I've read through all the FAQ/tutorial materials I could find... didn't help much I'm afraid. The last post is not very helpful either. I keep getting the error message: "Attribute Option and Option Value Do NOT Match" but the message itself is not intuitive, just confusing.

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.
