customer can go back and add 2nd product when only 1 is available
Hi, I've been looking for an answer and either I'm not using the right keywords or it's just not there.
I noticed this a while ago on 1.3.7 but I've upgraded and I'm having the same problem (I'm working on a test server right now so there's no link to the specific site I'm referring to as it's a work in progress..)
So, the problem is that when a customer adds a product to their cart, if they view the same product, they can add another to their cart again even though there's only one in stock. I have it set right now so that it doesn't show the cart after they add items, it just shows the 'item successfully added to cart' message and they can see it in the cart sidebox. It successfully adds the product to the cart, but when they view their cart it then gives them an error message but no way to change the qty back without removing the item from their cart altogether. I've configured the product listings (all, new and featured) so that no qty boxes show, but I have some mods so I don't know whether this affects it somehow.
On this site I've got the Fast Easy Checkout and Easy Signup and Login and I've applied the mod 'simple removal of add to cart qty box'. I'm also planning on installing the gift wrap module and the testimonials, as well as fual slimbox. but I want to get this sorted out first :D
Now, this can go one of two ways that would work for me; I pretty much only sell one of a kind products. It's rare that I make more than one of something, and usually those are commissions so I'd just create a new listing specifically for that client.
So, I could go for removing the qty boxes and displays everywhere, including the cart sidebox and the shopping cart itself, to just hide it everywhere. But I don't know what I'm looking for and how I can go about hiding it without hacking (and probably breaking) the code. I'm pretty much a trial and error person and it's usually more of the latter...
I could also deal with a more simple solution of adding a qty change box in the shopping cart itself. This would probably be a much simpler solution and easier to apply, but the first solution would be preferable.
Does anybody have any suggestions as to where I can start poking around?
Thanks in advance for any help, it's really appreciated
(and please forgive me if this has already been asked, I seem to be having trouble figuring out what keywords to use )
