Special Shipping

Hello all :)

Most of my items are set up with to ship by item.
I have a few free shipping items....
However here is my dilemma :

I have a few special order items that I need to charge a flat rate or by weight. How can I get zen to recognize the special circumstances.

Ok I have notice in my shipping by item that it doesn't charge additional items of the same kind.

example:
5 of item a
2 of item b
1 of item c
1 of item d

charges for 4 items. I want it to charge for 9 items...
Help!
