keep home page

I have included my first product and now the main content (centre column) on the index page contains that product - I want the 'define_main_page' to remain rather than be disregarded. Any helpers able to advise?

thanks_

Re: keep home page

Thanks.. however setting these 3 options to zero hasn't altered the content (or anything) in the main column which doesn't make much sense - any further guidance would be very welcome_thanks>

Re: keep home page

To alter your main page in the centre i recommend using your admin panel and going to Tools and Define Pages Editor and then Define Main Page.

You must first use an FTP program to go to your online directory and go to whatever you named your store such as

store/includes/languages/english/html_includes and click on define_main_page and set it chmod it to 777 which makes it writeable and then you can go to define main page in your admin panel and change the look of the centre section to however you want it.

Don't forget to chmod the define_main_page back to 644 when you are finished as a security measure.

Re: keep home page

Thanks.. I do have the define_main_page php file as I wish it to be but it was being over-ridden when I added a new product but subsequently since I have added another product my original intended define_main_page has come back as the index so all seems to be as it should be.. thanks for the posts_

Re: keep home page

I am experiencing the exact same problem. I have all three items suggested in this thread set to zero. I have a Main_page defined. I have one test product in the store.

I am using Version 1.3.8

When going to the store it is automatically redirecting to a product.

https://www.mydomain.com/store redirecting to
https://www.mydomain.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=1

Although I have a template loaded this is occuring on both the template and standard template. I have loaded the template to another store and it works fine.

There is one little setting somewhere that needs to be turned off. I have compared the configs from both stores and I am not finding the issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, without your URL, I'm shooting in the dark, but...
I think that your one test product is the key word.

If you have ONLY one product, opening product list page is overtaken by product info page.

1.- upload at least one more product.
Anyway zen-cart isn't made for one product.

OR

  1. Admin page/ configuration/layout settings/ ..
skip1-prod Categories - set to False
( but before you do that - read explanation )

If I understood well then... this should solve your problem.

Re: keep home page

Well I not 100% how but I fixed the problem and I do think it was directly related to the one product thing. I only put one test product in to make sure it was building that page correctly. I did not even put it into a category.

I removed the product and made some more admin type adjustments and the page returned. Thanks for your help
