Vista problem? Cannot save my edits?

Hello folks, just signed up to the forum after buying the book. Figured I would be in good shape having the book but I am already stuck.
Top of page 37, I edited the end of the file as instructed using Notepad but when it came time to save it gave me this message - Cannot create the C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file. Make sure that the path and file name are correct.
I tried using crimsoneditor from appendix A but to no avail. the book is for Windows XP and I am using Vista.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I haven't been ignoring your reply Canopy but before I posted I had figured it was a p.i.c.n.i.c. issue (person in chair not in computer) and it was, but I had been searching the forum for half the day last Friday and couldn't really find anything that would help or was remotely close to fixing my issues.

Your reply did teach me alot on how to search the forum and that's why I had not replied figuring I would just be asking the same type of question over again. I had to just plod my way through this and try to understand what I was supposed to be doing. Basically I didn't understand how the folders and files worked together and once I had taught myself how to search for the files ( I had never done any kind of programming, thought everything was plug and play:smile:) the install went extremely smooth and fast. The other problem was with Vista as I was thinking that was the issue so I abandoned the laptop and went to work installing on my old XP desktop. I will try on my laptop soon and I don't expect any problems. I'm sure I will be back soon with more I'm stuck - help questions.
