add text in center box

When the customer selects a category, and the category along with
subcategories, is displayed in the center box, I would like to be able
to display some text (such as a definition of the category) before
displaying the subcategory list. I presume that I would need to
define those definitions and then include them display. Where would
I make the definitions and how do I insert them into the center box?

I presume that the definitions would be made in the english.php
file for my template. Just not sure where to include that def for
display in the center box.

Thanks for the help.

You should be able to do this in admin - catalog/products - categories - add your description
