Category Management

Latest version of Zen Cart. I have 6 different items. I would like to set up categories with a fixed amount of purchases for each category. i.e.,

Category 1 - 3 items - Fixed Price for the category - shipping and handling extra fixed cost - customer can mix and match or buy 3 of one item.

Category 2 - 6 items - Fixed Price for the category - shipping and handling included - customer can mix and match or buy 3 of one item.

And so one with a total of 8 categories. Category 2 - 8 include free shipping and handling.

Difficult scenario to search for when you are a relative beginner. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't see why you need the categories -- why not make a 8 products with the specifications you've listed?

What you describe sounds like it will need significant custom coding that would be unique to your store.

If there is a simpler way of achieving your goal, it will take considerably more detail about the product configuration before anybody can start suggesting alternative methods with confidence that they will work.

I have 6 vintage Christmas cards. There are quantity minimums. You can buy at the following levels. 3 Cards - $15, 6 Cards - $26, 12 Cards - $48, 36 Cards - $135, 60 Cards - $210, 120 Cards - $400. Each quantity is fixed, i.e., you can't order 27 Cards. Each quantity has a fixed (discounted) price. I want them to be able within each quantity (level) to order any combination of the Cards offered. i.e., 12 Cards (level 2) - 3 of #1, 5 of #4, 4 of #6. Total 6 Cards - Price $26.

Any help is appreciated.
