Will Zen Cart work with standard paypal account?

Hi....
I did a search but did not find the answer to this one. I have a standard paypal account with a shopping cart.

I am developing a website with Dreamweaver. I will be selling

Several products that will have about 4 different shipping methods

Because the supplier uses different shipping methods depending on

How much you are buying from them.

For example:

From $.01 - $100.00 – the shipping is $8.00

From $100.00 - $250.00 the shipping will be 8.0% of total purchase

From $250.00 – $500.00 the shipping will be 8.75% of total purchase

From $500.00 - $1000.00 the shipping will be 9.00% of total purchase

After trying to set this up with shipping methods within my Paypal account unsuccessfully and then talking to a Paypal rep on the phone they said this will not work.

Is this something that I can do with Zen Cart? thanks for any help with this...

By default, the Table Rate table and Zone Rate zones shipping modules allow for the last value to be a Percentage ...

You could, however, customize these so that you can have the mix of Dollar amount and Percentage as you need it ...

To answer the other part of your question, Zen Cart should work with a standard PayPal account, but you are limited (by PayPal) to the amount of money the account can accept each month. Check their website for the rules.

Hi thanks for the info. I am not too concerned at the moment with how much paypal will accept as i am just starting out and could deal with that later.

Zen Cart sends the dollar amount to PayPal ... how your shipping is calculated does not matter as that is done by Zen Cart and not PayPal ...

You just need to build the shipping module to create the right dollar amount to add to the order ...

You do not want PayPal doing anything for the Shipping just let Zen Cart handle it ...

and have found that the rates vary from State to State. Thanks in advance for any help.

Um ... yes ... that's what the "USPS" and "UPS" options are for under Admin->Modules->Shipping

Thanks for that information that helps alot. Is it the same process for using UPS? sound like it? thank again. I don't as of yet have Zen downloaded just want to first find out if this is going to work for me.

and you should be good with the Shipping modules as DrByte has indicated ... :smile:

I'm sorry about this and you can call me stupid but from the Zen main page I hit download and then it says "Please choose the file that best matches your architecture or operating system from the list of releases and files contained in this package."

There is absolutely anything that says which operating system you have and which Zen to download for it........thanks...hope the rest of Zen isn't this vague....

Ignore that notice. The releases are "platform independent" which means they'll run under any operating system. Select the latest version of Zen Cart available zen-cart-v1.3.8a-full-fileset-12112007.zip
