Mass Removal of Top Products Only.

I have a script that automatically updates my store with products from a distrubutor. The script is setup to automatically move products into certain categories. The being that on ocassion, it will encounter and unexpected category, and it seems to put the items in the top. This causes issues for me as it leaves me with categories and products on the same level which is a no no. The majority of the products the script does this to are things that would not be carried in my store anyway, so I would just like to delete them quickly. Unfortunately, the admin area makes it very slow to bulk delete products. Is there a quicker method via SQL or PHP (neither of which I know :frusty: ) I have tried using Easy Populate and Magnetic One's Store Manager. Neither of these are able to see the products located at the top. Does anyone know of a quick way to mass delete these items. Wish the admin area had this function.

How does the script allocate the products to a category? By changing its master_categories_id, or updating the products_to_categories table, or both? I'm afraid that to answer your question we would need to know more about precisely what your script does and there resulting state of the products.

I have ran into a similar issue when adding products using easy populate, in my case the products that were added to the top categories where linked copy of products inside the categories. In my case I had a backup database so I just restored it and fixed the error in EP.
There is a mod that make it easier to edit products in the download section I think its called Quick Update it make life easy. :clap:

I wish I knew the answer to that question. The script is purchased and encrypted :( . I will try to find out from the developer though.

Very Nice Add-in, but unfortunately, it does not have deleting capability. Would be nice if it had a check box that you could click next to products, and then a mass delete button that would delete checked products.

use the phpadmin to delete the product from database, you can select the products you want to delete and with one click your done but back up first.

WOOOHOO.. it worked! Thanks a million. Cant believe I never though to do it that way Looks like I should be able to figure out how to do this SQL. Basically everything I need to delete has a 'Mater Category ID' of 0. Now to figure out how to do this in PHP and run it as a CRON.

Maybe you should rethink your software that you use to upload products. EP works for me all the time and I manage 4 sites.

products
products_description
products_to_categories
