international first class option not showing

Ive a client who has enabled international shipping in the USPS module and chosen two shipping methods. One shows up at checkout and the second (international first class) does not.

I see a post dated may of 2008 citing an update to this module, but as this store was set up in December of that year i'm assuming thats not the issue.

Does any one have any thoughts as to how to resolve this little issue or what to try?

and follow the instructions to Save your settings to NotePad, REMOVE and INSTALL then reconfigure ...

While the dates sound odd to you, the installation vs the release dates make the Update the most current ... :smile:

Hi, my name is Jamie owner of https://www.MysticCrypt.com I have Zen version 1.3.8 On my shipping admin console in zen cart, it will give me the option to check the First Class Internation . I have checked it, but when doing shipping quotes it will not present this as an option. The weight is under 4 pounds. You need the current update for the USPS shipping module and to follow all of the instructions on the USPS Patch thread for saving current settings, REMOVE, INSTALL and re-configure the shipping module ... :smile:

Hi- I am also new to this and having the same problem with First Class International showing up (using version 1.3.8). I'm confused about what it means to unzip a file. Also when I upload the patch to the usps.php file, is it supposed to replace it?

I understand and have been doing the saving current settings, REMOVE, INSTALL and re-configure the shipping module. I just don't know how to get the patch uploaded --
Any help you can give me wd be appreciated as I really need this shipping option...

You would UnZip the Zip file with something like WinZip ...

Then you would load these files via FTP to your server into the same directories by overwriting the old files with the new files ... then do the REMOVE, INSTALL and reconfigure ...

I'm using zencart 1.3.8a

I have done all the recommended actions to try to fix my issue with International shipping using USPS, but the fix didn't make any difference.

I get quotes for only 3 options - global express, express mail international, and priority international.

However, I called USPS and they confirmed the API is activated for all the shipping methods I want, including international flat rate and first class international. I can see in the debug email that they are sending the quotes to my website, but zencart is not picking up the info for the last 2 options in my shipping estimator. (This is problematic because the 2 cheapest options aren't showing up costing me international orders.)

I am having the same issue with domestic shipping options - the first class shipping option doesn't show up, although USPS activated the API for it.

Is there a fix in the shipping.php or another file that can be made?

In that case, My other challenge becomes important to solve - I want to offer the priority domestic flat rate and the priority international flat rate envelope, but only for a package that is no more than 3 lbs; Otherwise this kicks in for multiple items, which I do not wish. Any code adjustment you can recommend would be helpful. Thanks!

My question is specific to getting the flat rate envelope option to get triggered in both domestic and international when 1 item is ordered. My product is a book that weighs 1lb 13 oz in a flat rate envelope (therefore under 2 lbs). At this point, the software does not give me the flat rate options when 1 book is ordered.

1 book weighs 1 lb 13 oz including packaging fits comfortably in the flat rate envelope and therefore weighs under 2 lbs. According to USPS I can ship as much as I can fit into the envelope for a flat rate, as long as the package is under 4 lbs.

The challenge is that 2 of this particular item weigh just under 4 lbs, but don't fit into the flat rate envelope and therefore require a different shipping method, like priority international etc. So my idea is to restrict flat rate to under 3 lbs to make sure the flat rate shipping method is only offered for 1 item, but is not offered when items weighing more than 3 lbs are ordered. This is a suggestion but you may have a better idea.

Another possible solution - I notice in the Configuration Shipping you can add Tare for small/medium or large package - is there some way of specifying what makes a small/medium or large package? If I could do that then I could say a single book is a small package weighing under 4 lbs and 2 or more books is a large package and weighs over 4 lbs therefore should not trigger the flat rate option.

But of course we first have to get USPS flat rate envelope for domestic and international to show up at all.

One more thought - I notice someone else is specifying per item flat rate shipping. It would be acceptable to say 1 book = $12.95 shipping plus handling, 2 books = $25.90 shipping plus handling etc for USPS international, since I could ship multiple flat rate envelopes if they order more than 1 book. Does this help?
