Images alternate text

is there a way to add alternate text tag lines to my images like you can in html. I cant seem to find anything on this and would like to optimize my site for certain keywords.

Alt tags are NOT keyword opportunities.... they are for the visually impaired.

Its not about posting lists of keywords into the alt tag and i don't think the visually impaired are going to be a major part of selling handmade crafts to art gallery owners. However I can take it from your reply that zen cart has no functionality for manually editing image alt tags.
