ozpost shipping module

Catching Angels:

when she reinstalled the module all the listings lost there postage data expect for the weight she has told me that she has installed it correctly can you have a look or tell me where to look and what to look for

First we need a little bit of clarification.

I'm assuming by 'postage data' you are referring to the product dimensions?

If so, we then need to determine if it is the actual data that has been 'lost' or whether it is just the input/display fields that have gone missing.

<a short time later> So assuming that w w w . catchingangels . com is the store with the 'lost' data then I can tell you that it isn't actually 'lost' at all, and the existing product dimensions are still being sent for the quote requests.

So, that mean you just have an input/display problem. This implies that the install didn't complete without errors.

The 1st thing for you to tty is to log into your store, navigate to the modules/shipping settings, select the ozpost module and click the button(s) to uninstall/remove it. When done (don't remove any files) just press the button to re-install it.

If you are lucky, that should fix things up so you can input/edit the data again. If unlucky you'll be greeted with warnings or alerts that some files couldn't be updated .. This is usually caused by folder or file permissions being too restrictive (not set at their defaults) so it is a matter of relaxing the permissions until you get a report of a successful install. You can 'tighten' up the permissions again when the install has been completed.

Please get back to me if this doesn't help fix the problem.

Cheers

Shoot. That's not good.

This error is also usually caused by incorrect folder/file permissions.

Please check you PM. The quickest resolution would be for me to take care of it for you.

Re: ozpost shipping module

Hi Rod
I have just started using Fastway and am having trouble getting the satchels to show up in the shipping estimate. If I activate labels then they show up in the shipping quote but the satchels never do. What have I done wrong? Also Fastway now have a A4 satchel instead of the A5.

Re: ozpost shipping module

Sorted the satchel problem with Hide parcel rates if letter sized (domestic)? No. Found it deep in here. But as I mentioned above the A5 satchel should now be changed to A4. Or have an A4 option as well.

Re: ozpost shipping module

Put Hide parcel rates if letter sized (domestic)? back to yes and it seems to still be working OK for Fastway?? So I don't know what was happening originally.
I need the A4 satchel added as some of my items do not fit in a A5 but fit in an A4 but it is giving me the quote for A3.?
Also my pricing seems different. I have $6.95 for the A4 and it quotes $7.15(for A5) and $10.95 for A3 and it quotes $10.55.

Me neither, but please let me know if you can replicate the problem.

robbie269:

A3 is the next size up from A5, so in the absence of an A4 then this is correct.

I can't add the A4's until they update their PDF pricelists. If they've already done this it could be that they are only available from certain distribution points, and I've only looked at 3 of the 30 that they have.

Not only do I need the price, I also need the size. As much as it would be good to say that these are all 'standard' sizes, that isn't the case.

For example:
Australia Post's A2 = 510 x 435mm
Fastway A2 = 450 x 610mm

Australia Post's A3 = 405 x 310mm
Fastway A3 = 325 x 440mm

Australia Post's A4 = N/A
Fastway A4 = Unknown

Australia Post's A5 = 355 x 220mm
Fastway A5 = 190x260mm

You may be able to speed things up a little if you can find the A4's in any of the pricelists found here:
http://www.fastway.com.au/pricing/courier-rates (and let me know which one).

robbie269:

Also my pricing seems different. I have $6.95 for the A4 and it quotes $7.15(for A5) and $10.95 for A3 and it quotes $10.55.

Could you please let me know which distribution point you are using, and do you have the 'frequent user' set to 'yes' or 'no'.
Also, where are you getting your prices from?

FYI, the fastway Satchel quotes are obtained from data tables stored on the ozpost servers, which means I need to perform manual updates whenever FastWay change their rates (thankfully this isn't often), but they never advertise any rate changes so I tend to depend on people actually using the FastWay service to report any discrepancies before the updates take place.

The FastWay parcel rates are retrieved from the Fastway servers so these should always be current. The Satchels are a different story, because if you look at the quotes on their web page (The Quick Quote, not the pdf price lists) you'll observe that all satchels are quoted the exact same price ($7.15 - $11.99) regardless of the pickup and destination locations.

Anyway, if you could get back to me with further info about the prices and the A4 satchels I'll see what I can do.

Cheers

Re: ozpost shipping module

I am using the Wollongong Distribution Centre. The PDF on their website is not current as mine is dated March 2015 and the Website is November 2014. Price changes for a standard user are: Brown label: $7.95 Lime: $11.95, A3 satchels: $10.95, A2 satchels: $12.95. The PDF still has the A5 satchels but she said they have now been replaced with the A4 at $6.95. The A4s measure 325mm x 250mm.

Thanks.

The servers have been updated to reflect these changes.

Nothing for you to do.

Even though the prices returned (and the dimensions used) are now based on the A4's, the zencart module will still indicate that these are the A5's, at least until the next update.

Re: ozpost shipping module

Thanks Rod that seems to be working now. Except...
Last night I got an order for Austinmer that is near Wollongong. They choose Fastway as the carrier. The shipping was for $6.85. I can not see where this came from? I put the same items in the cart this morning and ran the calculator for postcode 2515 and got the same result:
"Postage quotes are based on the postcode information you entered above.
(0.242 KG) APPIN 2560 TO 2515 AUSTRALIA
Available Shipping Methods Rates
Fastway Couriers, Label (BROWN/BLACK/BLUE) 1 Days Estimated Delivery. $6.85
Australia Post, Parcel under 500g1 Days Estimated Delivery. $7.45
Fastway Couriers, A3 Satchel (ORANGE) 1 Days Estimated Delivery. $8.40
Australia Post, Express Parcel under 500g 1 Days Estimated Delivery. $10.20"
I am not sure where the price for the A3 came from either. It is local to the depot but the pricing is off.

According to their Quick-quote page $6.85 is the correct cost. There's no way for me/ozpost to change this because the label rates are obtained directly from this server.

robbie269:

The A3 Satchels are more troublesome than the other satchels which for the most part are the same cost regardless of the distribution point. The A3's however have a different cost for each distribution point - Well, perhaps not ALL, but certainly many.

I originally created the data tables to provide the highest price I found for these ($8.36 - rounded up to $8.40), and I've been slowly (very slowly) updating these according to the distribution point. IOW, unless I've noted (or been informed otherwise) that actual costs are lower, then the quotes provided will be higher than expected (Rule#1 of the ozpost system is to "Protect the merchant from underquoting".

Until now I've not gotten around to checking/adjusting for the Woolongong prices and have noted that the A3 Local satchels for Woolongong are listed at $6.85, so that is what I've currently adjusted them to. I suspect that this may not be correct according to your more current pricelist though, so if you could update me on the price you have for these I'll make another adjustment for you.

Until Fastway update their servers I would suggest you consider adding an extra $1.00 to the FastWay label handling fees to compensate for this discrepancy.

Not the best of solutions by any means, but there is no way I'd like to take on the task of maintaining our own data tables for all label types and all distribution points. It's a tough challenge just keeping tables for the 4 satchel types/sizes. The thought of trying to do the same for all ten(?) label colours, plus the excess labels seems like too much needless work, especially when until now I've been able to grab this info from their website in real time.

FYI, I'm currently awaiting a reply from FastWay in regards to the current prices and the outdated information on their website. Alas, because I'm not actually a FastWay customer I'm not really holding my breath waiting for a response though.

The whole thing sounds like a lot of work on your part! I only lost 10c on the order as I put it in a A4 satchel at $6.95. So it can all wait until Fastway sort out their website PDFs. I'm trying to just use the National A4 and A3 satchels for now and only need the labels for a couple of larger items I stock. I will see how I go for the next order that chooses the Fastway option.

Re: ozpost shipping module

Rod
I have returned to trying to upgrade ZC from 1.3.9.h to 1.5.4 as I gave up last time. I upgraded ozpost to 365a on my ZC 154 site on my Windows 8.1 test machine and receive the message re the admin/includes/boxes ... file is unwritable.
Checking File : E:\Web\bmhstore154\aadmin/includes/boxes/extra_boxes/clicknsend_customers_dhtml.php
Error Folder : E:\Web\bmhstore154\aadmin/includes/boxes/extra_boxes/ is Unwritable.

The admin/includes/boxes folder does not exist in ZC154 so I created
admin/includes/boxes and
admin/includes/boxes/extra_boxes

then it installs.

Thanks. I'll look into that for the next update. I suspect this has something to do with it being on a windows based server.

The boxes file/folders aren't needed or used with ZenCart v1.5.x (or ozpost) and the ozpost preinstall tests are supposed to skip testing for them. Apparently this didn't work as it was supposed to with your installation.

This module, like all ZenCart modules (?) has a file contained within the zip file that contains installation instructions.

To make things easier for you though.

Step#1. Download the ozpost.zip file.
Step#2. Unzip the files to a convenient location on your computer.
Step#3. Copy the following files to your store (keeping the same folder hierarchy) /includes/modules/shipping/ozpost.php
/includes/languages/english/modules/shipping/ozpost.php

Optionally, copy the /images/icons/ozpost_. to your store.

Step#4. Log into your store and select modules/shipping, locate the module Ozpost MultiQuote).
Step#5. Click 'Install' button
Step#6. Set your shipping methods and packaging & handling fees.
Step#7. Click the 'update' button to save your settings.

That's pretty much it.

Note: The ozpost.zip file contains several files that are not mentioned here. Most are simply text files that contain more detailed information about the the various configuration settings. These do not need to be uploaded to the server.
In order for the module to function it only needs the two files mentioned in step#3.

No code changes are needed.

Email me at [email protected] if you experience any errors during installation, or have questions regarding configuration.

Hmmmmm..... I've never heard of that happening before.

louisapple:

here is the error message " Possible error updating the template file, if you experience problemw please replace tpl_module_shipping_estimator.php with a zen cart original and try again?

The estimator disappearing suggests the this 'possible error' is in fact a 'real' error, and that the ozpost installation code has managed to save a corrupted version of this tpl file.

If you could navigate (using FTP or your cPanel file manager) to

/includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/ and look for the files called
tpl_module_shipping_estimator.php
and
tpl_module_shipping_estimator.php_ozpRestore

If they BOTH exist, delete tpl_module_shipping_estimator.php, then rename tpl_module_shipping_estimator.php_ozpRestore to tpl_module_shipping_estimator.php

If only the one called tpl_module_shipping_estimator.php exists, please rename this to tpl_module_shipping_estimator.php_backup.

Verify that the Estimator re-appears on the website again.

This rename (or delete/rename) should revert things to how they were before running the ozpost installer (but it will be missing the changes that the installer was trying to make). The module itself will still work though.

Please let me know your findings here (whether only one, or both files were found) as that will help me determine which approach you'll need to take next for a fully successful ozpost installation.

FYI, what the installer is trying to do is remove the default 'State' selector (which isn't used by ozpost) and replacing it with a 'Suburb' selector (which is required by some of the supported courier services). In addition to this, it makes changes so that the courier logo's can be displayed (if enabled).

Cheers
