ozpost shipping module

RodG:

http://www.fastwayfms.com/scripts/mgrqispi.dll

Thanks Rod.

Where is this configured in OzPost? I cannot work it out.

I notice that the Fastway calculator seems to point to the following:

/Magic94scripts/mgrqispi94.dll

Cheers

GAM:

Its defined on the server, not the client.

GAM:

It is a conspiracy.

Re: ozpost shipping module

Just in the last couple of orders I've had error messages with Aus Post. Doesn't seem to matter what the goods are - I've checked that I've got correct weights and measures for the orders. I think I've set the flat rate. it hasn't bothered me so far as it's been close to the correct amount.

I have had the following :
Aussie Post ( Unexpected error (no valid methods). Using AP Flat Rate.): $4.00

Basically I'm wondering if it's me (my site) or something that's happened to Australia Post recently? Someone told me that there was an imminent rate rise but I'd presumed that the module would cater for this also.

has anyone else experienced this? or am I a lone voice in the wilderness........

I realise that this thread contains a lot of messages, but please read the last 4 or 5 days of postings.

Get back to me if these don't solve or relate to your problem.

artycles:

Someone told me that there was an imminent rate rise but I'd presumed that the module would cater for this also.

The prices officially rise on 28th June.

From your perspective, the 'module' will take care of this. From my perspective I'll be updating the server with the new prices over the weekend prior to the official change.

artycles:

Could be either. There has been a lot of activity around here lately due to a bug in some old code that has just been discovered, but this is all neatly identified and documented now, with a couple of possible solutions.

I/we don't know if you have a new/unrelated problem.

Re: ozpost shipping module

CanFish:

sending to SYD or CBR i get a fastway satchel and label quote.

This may seem like a really dumb question, but how do you manage to get the ozpost module to send to either SYD or CBR ? (where the heck is CBR anyway?).

CanFish:

i got the same results as placing SYD instead of CBR in the ozpost field.

Firstly, please forgive me, but I'm not even going to try to understand your findings, partly because it seems very confusing, and partly because the issue is almost certainly out of control of what can be done with the ozpost module in regards to a resolution (Unless what GAM suggests about different backend servers being utilised is correct, and if so, the 'other' server needs to be accessible via scripts, "magic94" doesn't appear that way .. in fact I understand 'magic' calls 'sctipts'. I digress.)

What I was going to say was the 3char code you enter into the ozpost settings is, to the best of my knoweldge, used to determine the $rates, as these are set according to the franchise. Each franchise has its own area of coverage, so as a general rule you cannot pick and choose which franchise will service your particular area. You may be able to 'fool' the system into providing a quote where one wouldn't normally be provided, but I'll never be convinced that that would be a wise thing to do.

CanFish:

i had Use Core Weight set to Yes and Restrain Dimensions set to Yes.

For most people this is almost always the WRONG thing to do.

CanFish:

When i had Core Weight set to No it came back with 44 satchels,

Sorry my friend, but this cannot be. The only way you'll ever get multiple satchels/parcels is if the "Use Core Weight" is set to "YES".

However, this is new/untested code, so you may have found a bug. Can you still set to 'no' and be quoted for 44 satchels ? (do you have a URL for me to see?).

CanFish:

but having Restrain Dimensions set to No didn't effect the outcome.

Although there is no direct connection between the "Use Core Weight" setting and the "Restrain Dimensions" setting, there is an INDIRECT connection in that the use core weight will divide the shopping cart by weight, creating multiple parcels, and as a consequence of this the total dimension of all items in the cart is also divided by the number of parcels, which will pretty much always ensure that the dimesions of any given parcel won't exceed the carrier limitations anyway, therefore the Restrain Dimensions code never comes into play.

CanFish:

I had debug turned on and for some reason ozpost just doesn't get any information from the fastway server about the label when shipping to SYD and the store is set to CBR.

To both myself, and 'ozpost', a comment like "shipping to SYD" is meaningless. If you meant to say "shipping to postcode 2000" then please state it as such.

What code you set as your local franchise is also meaningless to both myself and the module ... ok, I know ADL means Adelaide, and SYD means Sydney (I really dont have a clue about CBR though, and not interested enough to look it up). To me, it really isn't important, and to the module it isn't important - The data is simply passed on to the fastway server in the required format.

If you find the fastway publicised codes are different than what works in reality (could be the case) then this hasn't been made clear and the oddity would best be taken up with the webadmin at FastWay (who will probably appreciate being informed of the oversight).

CanFish:

Thanks to Rod and the zen cart team for making a great product that an idiot can teach himself to use!!!

LOL.... Nah, I've met idiots before, and without exception they appear to lack the ability to teach themselves anything, unless it is wrong.

Cheers

Re: ozpost shipping module

Hi Rod

Further to the omitted Fastway Labels issue.

After a fair amount of testing I've determined that the issue is limited to Shorthaul (LIME/PINK) labels only. I get no shorthaul label quotes for shorthaul destinations/zones. This is likely to be the same for CanFish too as most if not all Sydney destinations would be 'Shorthaul' from CBR (Canberra) as it is from NEW (Newcastle). Changing my location to other shorthaul locations (Wollongong, Central Coast, etc) to Sydney and I get the same result - No shorthaul labels quotes.

Rod, perchance shorthaul labels have a different code or something that is not being captured or catered for?

I haven't tried to contact Fastway yet, but if this new information doesn't jiggle a solution then I will endeavour to do so on Monday.

For information - Fastway franchise codes copied from source code of http://www.fastway.com.au/1PriceServiceCalc.html:

<option value="ADL">Adelaide </option> <option value="ALB">Albury </option> <option value="BEN">Bendigo </option> <option value="BRI">Brisbane </option> <option value="CNS">Cairns </option> <option value="CBR">Canberra </option> <option value="CAP">Capricorn Coast </option> <option value="CCT">Central Coast </option> <option value="CFS">Coffs Harbour </option> <option value="GEE">Geelong </option> <option value="GLD">Gold Coast </option> <option value="TAS">Hobart </option> <option value="LAU">Launceston </option> <option value="MKY">Mackay </option> <option value="MEL">Melbourne </option> <option value="NEW">Newcastle </option> <option value="NTH">Northern Rivers </option> <option value="PER">Perth </option> <option value="PQQ">Port Macquarie </option> <option value="SUN">Sunshine Coast </option> <option value="SYD">Sydney </option> <option value="TOO">Toowoomba </option> <option value="TVL">Townsville </option> <option value="BDB">Wide Bay </option> <option value="WOL">Wollongong </option>

Can anyone else confirm whether they are getting Fastway SHORTHAUL label quotes from the OzPost module?

Re: ozpost shipping module

I've just tested MEL (Melbourne franchise) to 3550 - Bendigo and GEL (Geelong franchise) to 3550 - Bendigo, which are both shorthaul according to Fastway website and same result - No Fastway Label (i.e., shorthaul label) quote, only Fastway Satchel.

So I'm confident everyone would be experiencing the same omission.

Re: ozpost shipping module

OK, I've read the numerous posts from the last half a dozen days. I understand the problem a little more now. Sorry for that, I should have read more before posting my query. It's just a bit daunting when you have 80+pages to read, just where my problem might be solved. :lookaroun

I can see I need to update or alter some files.

I'm not ready (as in just don't have the time) to update to the new version of Zen - hoping to get to it over next couple of weeks.

In the mean time, I'm presuming that the latest version of ozpost is only compatible with the latest Zencart as this is the only version mentioned on the download point.

I noticed further down the page there is a download for 1.3.7 - 1.3.9+ and am wondering if I should be doing that one instead for now until I get the new Zencart update?

All versions of ozpost are compatible with all versions of zencart (from at least 1.3.7, possibly earlier).

Re: ozpost shipping module

I have just installed this module. I now have a warning message:

Warning: curl_setopt() [function.curl-setopt]: CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safe_mode or an open_basedir is set in /home/sarahrot/public_html/store/includes/modules/shipping/ozpost.php on line 744

I have enabled regular and express satchel for Australia and air mail and express for international, yet when I test this through purchasing a product none of these are visible, only the previously set free shipping.

Does anyone know what might be the problem?

Re: ozpost shipping module

I've just updated it to the new version and am still having problems.
I think I'd better go Back to start all over in case I've missed something.

I uninstalled old version uploaded new version then installed new version.

On the top of the description there is the line

MODULE_SHIPPING_OZPOST_TEXT_DESCRIPTION

does this mean I've left out a file somehow?

Yes... the CURLOPT_FOLLOWLOCATION cannot be activated when in safe_mode or an open_basedir is set,and this option is trying to be activated by line #744 of the ozpost.php file.

I assume that you are next going to be asking for a solution to the problem. There are in fact two solutions.

  1. Unset your open_basedir or
  2. Comment out (or delete) line 744 of the ozpost.php file (This is safe to do at the moment, but it may cause a problem in the future if the server ever needs to have a redirect in place.)

Sorry, I cannot tell you the best way to unset the open_basedir on your server.

It means you've screwed something up.
The "MODULE_SHIPPING_OZPOST_TEXT_DESCRIPTION" is from V1.0.x of ozpost. It doesn't exist in V2.00

thanks Rod - I figured that was the case:frusty:

well I re did it all, and now I am getting a correct looking info panel in admin.

So, I did a quick test and although I now get to the quote screen I'm faced with the following

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c395/artycles/ozpost.jpg

which makes it hard to work out what is being offered.

Have checked and the icons are in the correct folder, where to I look next please?

Re: ozpost shipping module

I've just looked at it again using another browser (Firefox)and all is OK, so I'm thinking it's me using Google Chrome which was the problem :dontgetit

Don't think I'll spend much more time on it at the moment, seeing that it seems to be ok.

Re: ozpost shipping module

Rod
I've just upgraded to v 2.0.6 but on testing its only producing Flat Rate estimates.
In the attached screenshot of the table generated by the debugger I see two columns; one devoted to Item, the other devoted to Parcel info.
The Item column is missing the weight, whereas the parcel column has it so I'm guessing the error that prevents the estimate from displaying is down to this missing weight. Trouble is, I can't find the offending location to update. I've checked the weight on each product page and each is correctly filled in. Where do I add an item weight if its not the product page?

Correct.

Sorry, I'm confused and not sure exactly what you are asking. What do you mean by "each product page" and what do you consider to be 'correctly filled in'?

lucidlee:

Where do I add an item weight if its not the product page?

The only place to add/edit product weights is via the /admin/catalog/categoriesProducts editor, where it has always been. <extremely puzzled look>

lucidlee:

Trouble is, I can't find the offending location to update. I've checked the weight on each product page and each is correctly filled in

If I assume that you are referring to the correct page (and I really can't imagine where you are looking if not), then what you consider to be 'correctly filled' simply cannot be the case. Given your example, the total parcel weight sent to the server for quoting weight a mere 0.28gm, (clearly shown on your screen capture)

A single sheet of A4 paper weights ~5gm. What are you mailing? A postage stamp without the envelope?

Cheers
Rod
