Search by Product Model (Separate Search Sidebox?)

Is there a way to query just the product model like a separate search sidebox? Quick order looks good but it has too much functionality that we don't need. We want our clients to be able to search for a product number and only that one product shows up not everything that includes those letters in their description.

For example:
"L 1" is a product

Search for that and you get 5000 results. Add quotes and you still get 250 results. Including in the descriptions where something says Panel 100. So a search for just the product number. They are all unique.

In my research I've found that this type of search has been asked about several times and each time ignored and I'm wondering why?

Is this not possible? Do we need to contract someone to do it? Is the answer already out there? If it is I am have not been able to find it.

You can certainly create a new search form, and create a new page that handle the info passed by the search form. I guess not many ppl replied because there is no immediate solution. Though it can be easy, it still requires you to have knowledge of zencart, php, html. It's not something can be put all together in 1 reply post.
