Can't upload image in product category

Hello,
sorry, I know this is a very poor performance of my, but after hrs I have to ask for help on this issue:
I Can't upload image in product category from the server.
With the browser form my local disc it works fine.
Where the image should be, it shows the file name only.
I thought it should be:
includes/templates/customs/images/customs.jpg ???
But it doesn't work - obviously after hrs I have tried many paths
and yes, the pics are in this directory on the server!

all of the images of the products are stored in the root directory/ images

I do not understand you.
My jpg's are in the file I have given up.
