Mixed questions for new installation...

I am setting everything up and I have a bunch of questions left I was not able to find a clear answer to:

  1. Is it possible to change the default "main directory" image folder to a specific sub-folder within /images?

  2. Can attributes be edited within the shopping cart area, or does a customer have to delete the product and re-enter it to edit an attribute entry?

  3. We have 3 types of products. Ready to wear (multiple stock), one of a kind (only one), and custom made (unlimited stock).

I plan to set the custom made to a high stock quantity (e.g.: 1000) so customers can keep on ordering indefinitely. However I have to show the In Stock, otherwise customers will not know what is available for the ready to wear. How do I hide the stock for only custom made products (which can belong to any subcategory). Custom products will have various attributes assigned to them.

  1. Is this warning working as intended with a “No” setting or is there a conflict somewhere?
    “Warning: Does not show Quantity Box, Default to Qty 1”

By the way, is that setting related to this other one:
“Product Quantity Box Status - Adding New Products”
I have no idea what this setting does. I tried both 1 and 0 and I cannot see what it affects.

  1. Bug? In “Previous Next - Button and Image Settings” images are not visible when only two products are listed.

By the way, is there a way to separate the button and image link?

I am using version 1.3.8

Thank you in advance for your insights.

Re: Mixed questions for new installation...

Thank you for the reply...

You can select from the drop down - default remains the same

I forgot to mention that I am using Image Handler. No drop down menu in there.

I would like to make sure the images are saved automatically in a sub-folder, to keep things organized in there.

Is there any code/mod that can (easily, hopefully) accomplish that?

No

Is there a modification or some simple code that can accomplish that?

This is kinda critical.

Major usability issue: if I was a customer I would not want to fill out a bunch of attributes all over again just because one turned out to be incorrect.

Trouble defining which products are what

Uh? Can you elaborate on that please?

Where is this?

The first paragraph refers to a setting in Categories / Products, when filling out a product (Products Quantity Box Shows: Yes, No). The warning shows up in there.

The second paragraph refers a setting in Admin > Configuration > Product Info

Refresh your browser - I see the images

Nope. It's a bug.

You will see the images only when it works (more than 3 products), you will not when it does not (less than 3 products)

Try again, it's a bug. I tried it in 2 different browsers.

Add this to your stylesheet and adjust to suit

Thanks :)

Re: Mixed questions for new installation...

On Previous Next images ...

1 Turn on the

Previous Next - Button and Image Status
Button and Product Image status settings are:
0= Off
1= On

2 Set the images on

Previous Next - Button and Image Settings
Show Previous/Next Button and Product Image Settings
0= Button Only
1= Button and Product Image
2= Product Image Only

3 The images will show on Categories with 3 or more Products ... 2 or less make no sense ...

Re: Mixed questions for new installation...

Answer to question 5:

3 The images will show on Categories with 3 or more Products ... 2 or less make no sense ...

Ok. So you are aware of this already. Thank you so much for the answer, Ajeh.

With only 1 item it's fine, since only that one item shows up.

With 2 however it would be OK with me if the same image shows in the left and the right. Can that be done with a very small tweak in the code?

In fact, if the buttons were disabled, with 2 items there is no navigation up there.....

What about my question 4, is there an answer for it?

  1. Is this warning working as intended with a “No” setting or is there a conflict somewhere?
    “Warning: Does not show Quantity Box, Default to Qty 1”
    (in Categories / Products, "Products Quantity Box Shows: Yes, No")

In other words, does the red warning always go off when No is checked, or is there some conflict for me?

By the way, is that setting related to this other one:
“Product Quantity Box Status - Adding New Products”
I have no idea what this setting does. I tried both 1 and 0 and I cannot see what it affects.
(Admin > Configuration > Product Info)

Thank you.

The quantity box is displayed for the Add to Cart unless you turn it off ...

This allows you to turn off the quantity box on the add to cart on a per product basis ...

Thanks.

I am aware of what that setting does. No quantity box is displayed when I set it to No. What I want to understand is why the red warning? Do I have to take any action due to that red warning? Or is it just there as a reminder of my No setting?

The setting that I don't understand what it affects is instead this one:“Product Quantity Box Status - Adding New Products”

Which is in a totally different area of the Admin, but that sounds related to the Box setting within the product/catalog area.

Re: Mixed questions for new installation...

The red warning is just there to make you aware of what you have done ...

The setting for the:
Product Quantity Box Status - Adding New Products

is to allow you to set what you want the Default setting to be when you Add an New Product in the Catalog/Products ...

Re: Mixed questions for new installation...

So I guess you all created warnings to alert the admin of settings that are counter intuitive to the general usage of that particular setting... so if someone switches it by mistake the warning will let them know, otherwise the warning will stay there for those that are using a counter intuitive setting on purpose...

The setting for the:
Product Quantity Box Status - Adding New Products

is to allow you to set what you want the Default setting to be when you Add an New Product in the Catalog/Products ...

I see it now. I switched it on and off and it defaults yes or no when creating a new product.

So, question my 4 is resolved. Thanks

Question 5:

I am still wondering if there is any way to activate previous next images for subcategories with only two items...

Regarding my question 1:

  1. Is it possible to change the default "main directory" image folder to a specific sub-folder within /images?

Is this the answer?
https://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=54354

Does that mean that in the future, when I create a product, all images will be uploaded in the sub-folder I pick in Catalog > Product Types > Edit?

And if so, can I put all the other images in that new subfolder and the system will automatically look in there to find them? Or do I have to delete them all and re-upload them?

Would that work with Image Handler...?

Thanks again in advance.
