Sending Subscription Manager emails: Notice: FAILED to send Email to all recipients

Hi Guys

Just got an issue, regarding sending Emails from within the Admin side of Zen Cart. Having issues trying to send emails to indervidual customers from (Tools -> Send EMail) Can send emails fine using the other options i.e Newsletter Groups, but when trying to send to any indervidual, get the response of "Notice: FAILED to send Email to all recipients: [email protected] (0)" (I have changed [email protected] from an actual address for privacy purposes).

Please note all other Email functions are working fine.

Zen Cart v1.3.8a/v1.3.8

Any thoughts?

Hi Smokey,

Hard to say without further information. Post your Zen cart email configurations and some info on your server - ie windows / linux shared or dedicated host etc.

Re: Sending Subscription Manager emails: Notice: FAILED to send Email to all recipients

E-Mail Transport Method PHP (tried all of them)
E-Mail Linefeeds LF
Use MIME HTML When Sending Emails false
Send E-Mails true
Email Archiving Active? false
E-Mail Friendly-Errors false
Emails must send from known domain? Yes (also tried No)

Yes it is on a Lxadmin Host-In-A-Box Virtual Server (VPS/VDS)
(But also tried on a different server with no luck)

PHP Version 5.2.4-2ubuntu5

Re: Sending Subscription Manager emails: Notice: FAILED to send Email to all recipients

Well, since all the email routines in Zen Cart share a common code base, if only one of your pages is not working right, then either you've got something broken in custom coding or you've got a bad email address which is being rejected.

If you must attempt to diagnose email problems in your admin, then create a new file at** /admin/includes/extra_datafiles/email_debug_on.php **and put the following code in it:```

<?php define('EMAIL_SYSTEM_DEBUG', 5); ```Then try sending emails from your admin again. This should show all kinds of debug information on-screen when the email is sent. Note that it will interfere with other operations, so make sure you delete that file again when you've got your debug data. Hopefully it will tell you more about the responses received from your mailserver. If not, then you'll have to ask your webserver administrator why those emails are being rejected when attempting to send them.

Re: Sending Subscription Manager emails: Notice: FAILED to send Email to all recipients

If you open /includes/functions/audience.php and find:

// BEGIN newsletter_subscribe mod 2/2
    if(defined('NEWSONLY_SUBSCRIPTION_ENABLED') &&
       (NEWSONLY_SUBSCRIPTION_ENABLED=='true')) {
       $query_string = "select c.customers_firstname, c.customers_lastname, " .
                   "s.email_address as customers_email_address from " . TABLE_SUBSCRIBERS .
                   " as s left join " . TABLE_CUSTOMERS .
                   " as c on c.customers_id = s.customers_id " .
                   " where email_address = '" . zen_db_input($cust_email_address) . "'" .
                   " and (s.confirmed = 1 or s.customers_id >= 1) ";

    } else {
        $query_string = "select customers_firstname, customers_lastname, customers_email_address
                              from " . TABLE_CUSTOMERS . "
                              where customers_email_address = '" . zen_db_input($cust_email_address) . "'";
    }
// END newsletter_subscribe mod 2/2
```Try replacing that with:
```php
        $query_string = "select customers_firstname, customers_lastname, customers_email_address
                              from " . TABLE_CUSTOMERS . "
                              where customers_email_address = '" . zen_db_input($cust_email_address) . "'";
```This will remove the core hack made by the subscription manager module.  But I don't see why it needs to make this hack since this part of the code is only executed if the recipient is a single email address.  In that case the subscription manager isn't needed at all.
Re: Sending Subscription Manager emails: Notice: FAILED to send Email to all recipients
I just want to make sure I do this correctly. When I get to the area in the includes/functions/audience.php with
// BEGIN newsletter_subscribe mod 2/2
if(definedCOLOR=#007700 &&
(
NEWSONLY_SUBSCRIPTION_ENABLED=='true')) {
$query_string = "select c.customers_firstname, c.customers_lastname, " .
"s.email_address as customers_email_address from " . TABLE_SUBSCRIBERS .
" as s left join " . TABLE_CUSTOMERS .
" as c on c.customers_id = s.customers_id " .
" where email_address = '" . zen_db_inputCOLOR=#007700 . "'" .
" and (s.confirmed = 1 or s.customers_id >= 1) ";
} else {
    $query_string = "select customers_firstname, customers_lastname, customers_email_address
                          from " . TABLE_CUSTOMERS . "
                          where customers_email_address = '" . zen_db_input($cust_email_address) . "'";
}
// END newsletter_subscribe mod 2/2
I'm to replace all of it with the code below including the // BEGIN newsletter_subscribe mod 2/2 and // END newsletter_subscribe mod 2/2 ?
$query_string = "select customers_firstname, customers_lastname, customers_email_address
from "
. TABLE_CUSTOMERS . "
where customers_email_address = '"
. zen_db_inputCOLOR=#007700 .
"'";
