How do you insert an iframe on a product page?

I'm using Zen Cart v1.3.8a/v1.3.8

How do you insert an iframe on a product page? It won't display for me.

When I post the code in the HTML source popup nothing happens. If I put the HTML in the text editor it outputs the html on the page. When I go to edit it again, the iframe loads in the text editor (works on IE8, website in iframe doesn't show up in Firefox). After saving, it disappears.

The page says "There are no products to list in this category."

I've tried doing it on a defined page but I still get the same problem.

Re: How do you insert an iframe on a product page?

I'm trying to embed a catalog site for a customer. Right now the only option I have is to just display a link to open a new browser window.

I don't know if iframes are just not possible in Zen Cart or if there is a workaround.

I guess it can't be done. Thanks, anyway.

Re: How do you insert an iframe on a product page?

For several functional reasons, ZenCart will not provide full functionality in a frame.....
It will display though, so you must not be coding it correctly....
Purchase functions will be broken in a frame though so trying to do this is a futile excercise

I understand iframes are bad for search engines, as they can't follow them to index the content, so you are most likely better off not trying to use them where SEO matters.

Re: How do you insert an iframe on a product page?

The iframe codes I have tried are below:

<iframe src="http://www.google.com" width="700" height="600" scrolling="yes" frameborder="0"></iframe>
<iframe src="http://www.google.com" width="700" height="600" scrolling="yes" />

The sole purpose of using the iframe is to embed a catalog from a different website. It is only for one product page, the rest of the site is untouched and running Zen Cart functionality.

Thanks for your responses, greatly appreciated!

Re: How do you insert an iframe on a product page?

Since it's for a single product, can you make use of the "Products URL: (without http://)" field at the bottom of the product entry?
