How do I add Banner (Image) in the center column on the main page?

I'm trying to add banner (or image or background) on the main page rather than text...
how do I do that?...I've tried via define page editor...doesn't work...the image shows up in the editor window and when I save it disappears....nothing shows on the site...??? :wacko:
any advice?

If this is where you want it, you must not be coding it correctly.
It can also be a background image depending on what it is and the look you seek. You did not provide a link to where you are trying this, so we have to guess

it's sorted now...I found the answer in another topic... put some extra code in define_main_page.php and it's show up now...
